World Cup on the same pitches as the IPL a few days after the end of that competition?

How does World Cricket feel about playing a

World cricket.....meaning the BCCI, CA and ECB. No problem at all. Sporting governance in cricket has historically been the poorest of the major sports and hence their standards and what they are willing to force on the other nations has been just as poor

Ding ding we have a winner

Some of us just love to complain. The CPL just finish playing 33 games in 21 days at one venue with an average of 153 runs per inning overall and 178 in the last six innings of the competition.
If the groundsmen cyah get proper pitches ready for a tournament being played at 4 venues with a maximum of 15 matches at any one venue over a period of 29 days den dey eh worth getting paid

Chrissy didn't think that one through before starting the thread.
Or maybe she's just tabling her excuse for the Tits and Friends way ahead of time.

The real vexation is the BBI was able to have plenty match practice for their team on the same WC pitches while using the few International hired IPL hired hands as practice partners.

Ok, I didn't think of that angle.
So, let's big-up Chrissy!

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
'World Cricket' doesn't mind but on the other hand, in these pandemic times and tight international windows, I can't think of a single alternative to the UAE solution. Yes they could have postponed or wrote off IPL but too much $$ at play there.

And excluding the Pakmen...
But Pakmen know every blade of grass there....Babar will tear tail there...make sure you pick him for FL

That reminds of the time my team played a T20 Final against a team that played their semifinal on said pitch! And to add salt to the wound these same guys were running the league!

you are comparing a world cup to the CPL.......Nah....can't be serious

the tournament wasn't even supposed to be played in india. The 2020 WT20 was supposed to be played in Australia. The BCCI, in their haste decided that the tournament was cancelled in 2020, they would host it in 2021, with the proviso that they handled covid well, which they did not. I think they should have played it in Australia
In reply to Jumpstart
With the current COVID/government situation in Australia, they'd have had to postpone it anyway. But a fair point to bring up.

Dats de ting about people like you. Always feel dat wat we do in de region is second best.
In the era of drop in pitches you really think its dat hard to prepare proper pitches for the WC?
In reply to Chrissy & Jumpstart
Spot on. It is sad really. I can't recall a situation just mere days before the biggest event, you have a domestic tournament occupying the entire space.
CRICINFO just ran an article- very catchy headline- "How T20 has changed from the last WC"
but the entire article was heavily wrapped in this IPL version, it was meaningless and surely a sneaky and unethical way to sneak IPL-ness into the WC and make it as relevant and as important.
Some teams that are involved in the qualifying phase are currently playing warmup matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, if that counts for anything.
The Defending Champions must take a stand and boycott!!

I did not mean that pitches are substandard in the region. I am sayibg however the the WT20 is one of the flagship events of the ICC. The expectation is that the best grounds will be utilized. In this case, i don't think that is taking place. Unless the ICC is going to relay the entire wicket every week as they did during the Chennai test in 1999 when a fanatic damaged the ground so that the teams could not play abd the had to relay a brand new wicket
