ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced the two teams for the second and final Best v Best three-day match at the Coolidge Cricket Ground. The match will be played from Monday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 3. The teams will again be led by Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood.

The Selection Panel has made several changes with most of the bowlers switching sides to offer the batters preparation against different types of bowling and vice versa. Fast bowlers Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, Preston McSween and Chemar Holder, along with spinners Imran Khan and Jomel Warrican are now on the Brathwaite Team. Fast bowlers Shannon Gabriel, Nial Smith and Jayden Seales, along with spinners Rahkeem Cornwall and Veerasammy Permaul are now on the Blackwood Team.

It's just practice, but the WI Selectors could have done better with an eye on the future, they could have introduced players from the recent U-19 teams into that level of play, like Carty, Anathanze. I Khan is about 35 years old, what kind of future could he offer? A younger spinner could have been called up.

Imran Khan is a leg spinner, most likely being played so our batters are comfortable with good leg spin bowling. Unfortunately our batters consistently fail against leg spin.

You guys actually think the team to Sri Lanka has not been selected, and these practice matches is to aide the selectors?
The 1st test starts on November 21st, think about it.

the team has already been selected except for one or two players, but like I stated, the Selectors should have called up a few young players to get them motivated and to learn from the experience players.

Are you saying the 21 -30 years old, should be ignored?
The U19 were just in England, with no regional 4-day, a number of players could not show case their talent.
It is good to see a continuation from the last Best vs Best teams.
The selectors have seen players performance in the Regional 50 overs and the Hero T20, not the same for the 4-dayers.
Hope you are paying attention to the number of overs bowled by the spinners, in preparation for the tour?

I am not overlooking no one, I meant to say that the former U-19 players should be encouraged, like the players who were in the World Cup team with Hetmyer, Joseph and Paul.

Is there an academy to train young cricketers, where you live?

No there is not, but not having a system to encourage young talented players has been the downfall of WI cricket for decades now. therefore the managers of WI cricket should use whatever opportunities arise to get the talented players involve.
