HEADLINE: Inaugural Tony Cozier and Reds Perreira 23 and Under T-6 Regional Cricket Festival set for April 2022

The inaugural Tony Cozier and Reds Perreira 23 and Under T-6 Regional Cricket Festival is scheduled to bowl off from April 14-18, 2022 in Barbados.

To be held under the theme of 'One Caribbean, One Sport, One People, One Love' signifying the importance of togetherness within the region and creating the necessary investment for the development of young cricketers, the tournament is also being held in honour of two of the region’s greatest cricket commentators, Red Perreira and the late Tony Cozier.

“We are seeking to honour Mr. Reds Perreira and pay respects to the late Mr. Tony Cozier, who were very good friends and by extension, two of the greatest West Indian cricket commentators and writers that we have witnessed on this planet,” said Hamilton Lashley, the founder and director of the foundation.

“These gentlemen have been mentors and an inspiration to many youths and it is against this background we are seeking to stage this tournament on the Easter weekend of 2022.”

I just hope Reds Perreira doesn’t use that as a platform to continue the campaign of division and bitterness I have been hearing him , Andrew Mason and Lockhart Sebastian pushing on Sebastian’s sports program aired every Thursday evening at 6:pm. A program of bitterness directed at Darren Bravo, Chris Gayle and the current Vice President of cricket West Indies

I think most West Indian fans are rightly bitter about Darren Bravo, Chris Gayle and the current Vice President of cricket West Indies. I think Reds is with the majority of the fans. lol

There is no doubt that Reds and Cozier were the best two commentators ever from the West Indies. All the others have been way below their level. Holding did okay as an analysis.

Reds was an able commentator until regrettably health issues intervened.

The late Cozier was much more than a gifted commentator. Cozier was a cricket writer of the highest international quality.

Were the Pulitzer prize extended beyond USA the writing skill of Cozier seen on sports pages for decades may have won him a Pulitzer.

Reds was an able commentator
In the 70s and 80s he much more than "able". Yes, Cozier was also a top class writer. They both provided very descriptive play by play. Sadly, there is no one in the Caribbean that comes close to them.
