ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel today announced the squads for the West Indies Men’s team tour of Pakistan. The series will feature three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is) from December 13 to 22 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The panel named a number of uncapped players in both formats. For the ODIs, the newcomers are batters Justin Greaves, Shamarh Brooks, left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie and fast-bowling allrounder Odean Smith. Smith and Motie are also selected in the T20I squad for the first time, along with left-arm fast-bowling allrounder Dominic Drakes. Motie was a travelling reserve for the recent ICC T20 World Cup, while Drakes and Smith were net bowlers before the start of the tournament.

Rutherford 'fail' de bogus 'fitness' test again?

I may be mistaken, but I seem to remember anthonyp posting that Rutherford never passed a fitness test, not for Amazon Warriors, Jaguars, or anyone else.

Kay 2021-11-26 23:08:52

Darren Bravo gets to eat a food once again ...

It was stated by Rutherford, he was not given a fitness test, when he went back to Guyana or the WIDH.

Personal reasons to hustle in the glut of quick bucks T20 leagues . If they cant play for WI when selected do not pick them give committed players their places. Wave them goodbye on their mercenary hustle, slam the door shut behind them. WI wont rise again as long as the tail wags the dog. Circus jester Skerritt are you taking notes.

What Test Chanderpaul Hemraj failed ? Being Guyanese ?
His omission is the only one I have a problem with.

VoopsandOut 2021-11-27 01:07:17

How did Bravo get there? (once again) As for King, I suppose there is something about King. I agree that it is harsh for Hemraj and Rutherford not to be considered.

Since reasons were given for certain players not going on this tour, the selectors can be given a passing grade here.

Happy to see Motie, Smith, Drakes and King in the mix. Disappointed that Chanderpaul Hemraj was overlooked. Maybe he is being considered for the test series which is not a bad idea.

The atrocious stroke played by Rahkeem Cornwall to give away his wicket in the second innings shows he is not a thinking test cricketer and should not be persisted with.

Only time will tell.

Hemraj is better suited to LO but i have been saying that he needs to get fitter so he can convert starts to runs

let's see if he is hungry enough for it

all of his contemporaries are getting a chance...that should drive him

NO Jmo for ODIs?

He would be a better pick than Bravo

And how Kyle Meyers can play Tests..and T20Is...but not ODIs..that not making sense to me

Crazy that this batsmanless T20I outfit couldn't find space for Powell, less said about Rutherford's continued omission the better.

Really beginning to think Harper hates his countrymen

I am no Powell fan, and it seems none by the name of Powell.

It's good to see many that many young players were included, it is a wise move for the future.

VoopsandOut 2021-11-27 22:38:09

this is the tour to get a nucleus of young players together for the future. Amazing that they even considered Simmons and Russell, both of whom failed badly in the World Cup. What has happened to Ambris??

Foolishness, he should, however, be put on a training regiment to lose some weight.
