is not a T20i bowler at this juncture.
I would prefer him to concentrate on regional ODI and four-day cricket.
He is being pushed (force-riped) into the deep end at the professional level.
Tino Best comes to mind against Aus. He never recovered from that experience against an Australian batting team.

Really? TB was begging for years to get pick (deservedly so after his regional returns) and when he finally got his chance, was a seasoned bowler with lots of FC experience. He wasnt any rookie to cricket.
No comparison whatsoever between him and young Drakes.
TB didnt succeed at international level because he wasnt good enough. He was fast and that was about it. His pace and enthusiasm alone couldnt get him the results he and the team desired.

He is being rush, his role should be working as a support bowler/net bowler, since there are no A team tours.
CWI is getting it all wrong, sending or youngsters to the laughter, after playing a few matches.
We expect players with 24-30 averages, will succeed at the international level, no wonder we continue to slide.

what is the alternative? That we do not play international cricket at all?

how else can coach Simmons get the surprise factor?
In reply to VoopsandOut
CWI and the regional boards must have learning centres, cricket is a professional sport, we continue to send unprepared players to compete.
I look at WICB, the same way I look at Barbados competing against teams in Football, or at the olympics.

True
players unfit and unprepared

Good question.
How many regional competitions should players play in before making the move to international cricket?
In the past, county cricket was our grooming ground. Country cricket was handy because it would be played mostly in the english summer and a bit on their spring and fall. English summer coincided with the advent of our wet season so it was convenient. That no longer became an option.
In the Caribbean, we have dry and wet season. We play cricket in dry season. Wet season in the Caribbean is problematic, but not exactly impossible to play cricket.
Add to that, forget franchise cricket, the senior team plays more internarional cricket than ever before. So for those who love to complain that our best players dont play regional cricket, how are they supposed to play the suggested more regional competition when they are often absent representing the region.
The grooming ground has to be internarional cricket. There really is no other viable option.

If that is the solution, why not keep players on the team, until they are fully groom?
BTW, cricket in T&T starts early in the year, BCA used to be May/June to November/December.
After 25-30 years of losing and changing players like you change you underwear, thats your solution?

Would love to hear yours. Use BCA players?

I am tired writing about Barbados cricket, the product has deteriorated to please the clubs and members.
My solution for the BCA after losing a percentage of the cricket population, have Six 1st division teams, play each other 3-4 times annually in the 3 day competition, the 50 and 20 overs formats can continue as it is.
Use the Centre of Excellence for development, the system that is in place, is not working.
Barbados is no longer developing world class players.

Man, with those new dentures you are on a roll

If you are a good u19 player, you can have an average club or regional life, and not be drop.
With limited 1st division clubs, you will have to perform or play 2nd division, like I did.

Is t my writing, that make you think I have dentures?
