My Uncle started the B.G Chapter of the League of Colored People (LCP) back in the early 1950's and in 1956 he brought The Mighty Sparrow to BG for his first overseas trip where he sang his first hit Jean and Dinah.

They are a Dominica based group I believe they were formerly called WCK. The lead singer is Derrick Rah Peters ..
My favorite Mighty Sparrow tune

Thats why I missed Byron Lee, throughout the 70's and 80's, he would be out west, with the latest soca, that group may not had made the cut, or was not a favourite of his.
Living out west, I am remove from hearing music from the region, I've not seen a band in years, I went to a reggae fest about 8-10 years ago, and all the bands, singers were from eastern Canada.
I've seen Sparrow about 20 times, the last two times I was disappointed.
I waited until 1:00 A M for him to come on stage in Barbados, the next time he was in Calgary playing in a community hall, no band, like karaoke.

Thanks. Lyrics wise its hard to pick the best Sparrow tune because they are all great
I like Margarita because of the dancing tempo. Hard to stay still when Margarita playing

WCK (and the Bouyon music) were mainly active in the 90s to mid-2000s hence Byron Lee would probably not be familiar with them
Here is some background info on Bouyon
By the way - of all the carnival style music genres - Bouyon is the most danceable in my opinion

Thanks bro, I am following a guy from Angola who teaches Kizomba and Samba, that's the kind of music I am hearing.
