Nkrumah Bonner in the ODI Squad for India?

What'd you guys think about Nkrumah Bonner possibly being in the ODI squad for India?

I say why not. Can't be any worse than who is already there. Who would he replace mind you?

It has to be Chase. His record over the last year has been terrible so it makes sense to drop him for Bonner.

Also going to interesting to see if the new selectors persist with Jason Holder in the ODI format considering the fact that his performances in the format with both bat and ball over the past three years hasn't been great. Especially with Shepherd in the picture it makes an even bigger case to let go of Holder in this format but dropping Holder almost guarantees it'd become an international incident but regardless it'll be interesting to see.

I was thinking the same thing. He has been extremely disappointing with the bat of late. Chase would be better off as a tailender. His bowling is the only thing going for him at this point.

[b]In reply to Windiesfan78Spot on there.

Spot on there. Also I think it's worth sacrificing his bowling to try out a complete batsman cause our batting is absolutely dreadful right now. Plus Bonner can bowl decent leg spin so I think it's worth a shot especially with Hetmyer having seemingly put West Indies on the back of his mind I think this could be a good move but we'll see what happens.

Roston Chase as a whole has been very disappointing to be fair and I feel it's time to move on from him. He managed a total of 33 runs in three games against Ireland and if that doesn't make a case to move on from him I don't know what else will.

I forgot Bonner can bowl. I say go for it. Get Simmons on the phone.

I guess it's already a done deal.
Heard from the Caribbean Cricket Podcast that he is on the team.
Don't know if Chase or Holder have been retained but Bonner is more likely on there.

Great, that is forward thinking. I also think King deserves a chance.

But what's worrying me is that Pollard has defended and is most likely going to be persisting with Pooran at No-3 despite the recent disaster against Ireland.

I don't know why they've seemingly forgotten King from the One Day picture. He has the right technique to succeed but I don't know why we haven't seen him too much in the format.

would you place KB in the One day team?

Wittyman3 2022-01-21 20:55:41

In reply to tc1

We've already tried that before and it didn't work. Also it doesn't make sense to pick KB when we have Lewis, King or even Hemraj if he can be available for selection. Plus KB's technique is more suited for the red ball game and I think he should just work on perfecting that.

Have you ever check Bonner's SR, It's slower than Paint.

Look at Greaves strike rate as an opener. I would play Joseph as an opener before him.

Even with the low strike rate he'd still beat most of the current top order batsmen on our team. His performance in Sri Lanka is more than enough to justify a place in One Dayers especially now after Chase's misadventures.
Besides the man has played just three ODIs so I guess we'll see how that strike rate turns out to be if he does get selected and plays.

When given the opportunity didn't Bonner play good List A cricker?

He is our best batsman and should be in the odi team

Nkrumah Bonner , why was he selected for test and not the two other formats?
Baje, Bonner at 32 years, has just come to the party in two test series, his FC, ODI and T20 stats are not that outstanding, leave him in his lane.

A late bloomer, but he shouldn't be pigeonholed in any one lane!

There is plenty data out there to see what is needed for the development of players.
Not enough cricket is played in the region, to move his batting forward, for the next 3-5 years, just look at players development, after the county circuit was closed.
