In reply to mikesiva
Come on Comoros!
They will apparently be playing with no specialized goal keeper. The main one is injured and the other two have Covid19.
In reply to nitro
What a penalty shoot out!
Burkina Faso advance 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
In reply to mikesiva
Nigeria trailing Tunisia 0 - 1 and playing wid ten men
Nigeria out
In reply to Maispwi
Its Moroccos to lose then
In reply to Halliwell
Afcon not easy to predict. Very competitive.
In reply to nitro
Agree totally
Like a football tournament with participants equivalent to WI and Pak cricket
In reply to Halliwell
Yeah, you never know which team will turnup.
I remember cheering for Nigeria at USA '94. They looked great and then bam to rass they made a lil European team knock them out. Senegal in 2002 looked great as well.
Where the flick is Rwanda? Oh, yeah...busy, setting a precedence of law & order; improving literacy; having clean, green & orderly streets of Kigali & the rest of the country!
In reply to BeatDball
You do realize that as a DICTATOR Kagame's economic and social policies are more akin to SOCIALISM than anything else? So, it is obviously the Autocracy you admire and is confused in thinking you support Capitalism. Bet you support he who Poohs- in-Tin?
In reply to Brerzerk Rwanda & Singapore's system of governance is the template for the third world - there has to be public order/physical security, economic security, accountability, etc...third world socishitism has been a disaster (so says the Dragon) & America's system cannot be replicated. Gwallang!
Did I walk into a football thread or a politics one?...
In reply to Tryangle
Gambia beat Guinea 1-0.
In reply to Tryangle
maybe both. Our friend BDB cuss socialism everyday but praises
Lee's authoritarian Socialist Singapore/present day democratic socialist Singapore and
Kagame's Dictatorship Socialist Rwanda. Sadly he cannot contribute jot to the
football discussion.
In reply to Brerzerk Can't wait for Nigeria vs Ghana! The ancestral home of the African diaspora. Fool stop.
In reply to nitrothe most disapointing african team ever was cote d'ivoire ,who did not live up to expectations in the the 2014 and 2018 world cup despite having some well known euro based players like didier drogba and the toure brothers
In reply to nitro
Cameroon edge Comoros 2-1.
In reply to mikesiva
Comoros should be proud. Played with 10 men for 83 minutes and an outfield player in goal!
In reply to velo
CIV has a big match with Egypt coming up
But I do think with regard to WCs you have a point about them underachieving despite their talent. I think one tournament they were in "Group of Death", but still. 2014 they lost to Greece. They did win a match in each edition they qualified for, which is something.
The Zambian team that was destined light up the 94 World Cup was a great tragedy.
Many folks think that was the best African team ever.
In reply to Tryangle This one should be super!
In reply to mikesiva Lil chookoochookoo Gambia kicked arse! Edward Singhateh is probably happy & glad. Alyuh google that fella...he was in my Infantry Officers (lieutenants) Basic Course at Fort Benning Georgia in 1992! Jewmaycans, he likes Dancehall Reggae music! Btw, his mom is English.
In reply to BeatDball
Unfortunately the only experience I have of someone from Gambia was the fella who played Matthew from Desmond's...
Well done Gambia on their run thus far in their first AFCON
In reply to Tryangle Look at the continent to see how tiny Gambia, Togo & Rwanda are!
In reply to Tryangle
Senegal beat Cape Verde Islands 2-0.
Morocco beat Malawi 2-1.
After a goalless draw Egypt beat ivory Coast 5-4 on penalties.
Ditto Equatorial Guinea over Mali.
Mih like Equatorial Guinea fuh win this championship! Just wished their dictator was more like mih bwoy Paul Kagame. Fool stop.
In reply to BeatDballhe is two autocrats
In reply to velo I luv your vocabulary - autocrat!
The SIs will say they are synonymous...somewhat!?
Quarter finals time
Cameroon 2-0 Gambia
Burkina Faso 1-0 Tunisia
In reply to mikesiva Lil chookoochookoo Gambia put up a fight, but was outclassed. That's all.
BF really surprised Tunisia.
In reply to Tryangle
One of my niece's bought l a day in Gambia and is moving there. I'm wary of potential unrest in Senegal spilling into Gambia
Some ah dem forwards real selfish. Shooting from tight angles when a squared ball wud be de best option. No denying de skills though
In reply to Maispwi
Egypt 2-1 Morocco
Salah was the difference.
In reply to mikesiva
Happy for the Egyptian Prince.
In reply to nitro
Senegal 3-1 Equatorial Guinea
Mane the creator.
In reply to mikesiva Flicking Wolof people are tall! It's always an edge, ain't it?!
Senegal 3-1 Burkina Faso
Into the final.
In reply to mikesiva
Great
In reply to nitro
Egypt needed penalties to get past Cameroon.
In reply to mikesiva
Sala vs Mane!
In reply to nitro That bwoy sala is a kutta...kutta sala!
Come on Senegal...Egypt can't have a monopoly on the Afcon championships!
In reply to BeatDball
Come on Senegal!. Salah is mi baller but Senegal's coach was one of my favorite players at the 2002 world cup. They were brilliant.
De team with de Liverpool man winning dis!
In reply to culpepperboy
Not possible
In reply to BeatDball
Senegal!
In reply to culpepperboy
Senegal 4-2 on penalties.
Lol...that was a brave shot from Mane after that previous save...wow.
I was clairvoyant of this win! Btw, Senegal's Jollof Rice is the best! Of course, you know what the Nigerians would say...even, the Ghanaians might have something to say differently.
