Why did Windies lose the 4th T20I?

Yamfoot 2022-01-30 00:41:56

1. Should have kept the same team.
2. We should have batted first.
3. The bowling changes didn't make sense.
4. The batting order was wrong....Hosein and Shepherd should have batted before Holder and Pollard.
5. Other (please provide details)

Off you go

I sense that you know it is not as simplistic as that.It is painfully obvious that Daren Bravo does not belong in a T 20 International team. One important feature in all good T 20 batsmen is their adaptability and innovativeness. He is bereft of the imagination required for effective T 20 batting. It is well nigh impossible to learn to bat in T 20's in your mid-thirties because you are rather set in your ways and T 20 batting is instinctive.Of the three best WI T 20 batters, two are missing so all is not lost.We have to figure out a way to get those two men back in the T 20 team pronto.Pollard was talking about no time to bother with egos but it is time that the captain and coach, walk the talk and get the best team on the field.I watched Cottrell bowling left arm over the wicket to a right hander with no slip and no third man and I thought how do we do such nonsense and of course the ball peels off the edge and goes for a boundary.

about everything that could go wrong for WI went wrong in this match both before and during. Question now is whether they can recover for the final match in a series they should have been 3-1 up in b the 4th game.

Today's loss cannot be blamed on Bravo's inclusion and subsequent batting position. Bravo didn't pick himself nor his batting position

4. The batting order was wrong....Hosein and Shepherd should have batted before Holder and Pollard.

Shepherd and Hosein should have been at 5 and 6, respectively, in the fourth T20i.

You do not demote a player/s when they have shown you that they are more than capable of handling the opposition.

You encourage them to take their game to the next level by moving them up in the batting position, especially in this T20i format.

I saw matches on youtube where Lloyd and Viv did that in ODIs.

Pollard blew it today. However, my team for tomorrow is below, in that order.

1. King

2. Mayers

3. Pooran

4. Powell

5. Shepherd

6. Hosein

7. Holder

8. Pollard

9. Allen

10. Smith

11. Cottrell

They messed up the line up again by picking a batsman who made only 3 from 8 balls. Why leave out the exciting allrounders/
Well take that for being idiots .
Bravo should not be on any T20 team.
Wi bad habits again . Only 1 spinner on a slow track.
Well what do you expect? Cottrell before a spinner? Come on man.

Per Moeen

We started well at the top and finished really well. This is exactly what we want;

England had 2 half-centuries in the top five batsmen. WI did not have 2 half centuries in the entire match. In other word, England went into the match with a strategy to win: start well, and finish strong. WI seemed to be focused on (or distracted by, as someone else said.) team politics!!!!

Given the result and performance on Wednesday, the composition of the final XI for Saturday’s match suggests that team Management may be thinking more long term, by giving players like Mayers & Drakes opportunities. Otherwise, the tfinal XI composition makes no sense.

And I don’t buy that they’re more interested in long term development than winning the series. This team and team management in particular, NEEDS a series win. Especially given the result and performance against Ireland.

And if Darren Bravo is selected as a batsman (couldn’t be anything else), then why is he batting so low in the order? Appears as if the commitment to a left right combo at the crease is pedantic. You’re saying that he’s a specialist batsman that only bats when there’s a right hander at the crease? In a team that has Mayers and Pooran in the top 3?

Contrary to opinion here on this board, Darren Bravo CAN and HAS performed very well in CPL for Knight Riders and Red Force in the past.

!But that’s in the past. He’s been woefully out of form for some time. If the intention of team management is to give him as much time as possible “out in the middle” to regain that form, it’s highly questionable that the T20 format is the arena to do that.

And with lots of runs required in few deliveries, after NOT sending him in to bat ahead of either Powell or Holder, it makes no sense to send him in ahead of Shepherd, Hosein or Drakes given Bravo’s obvious lack of confidence.

Indeed management may be doing Bravo more harm than good by continuing to select him.

I didn’t see any reports of why Hope and Allen were dropped from the team that won on Wednesday. Does anyone know if they were dropped for tactical reasons or due to injury or some other issue?

I was checking for information on why Allen was dropped. I understand dropping Shai Hope for Mayers who made a well played 40. This change was a good decision. Allen's omission from the last game was a surprise to me. Unless he was injured he should have played. What hurt me about yesterday was that there was no real effort made to get close to score during the partnership between Bravo and Pollard. It was like they resigned in their minds that we had already lost the game. After Holder got out I expected that Shepherd would have come out to bat. Boy was I wrong.

Yes, last night's result was not good for us.

It is never a simple task choosing 11 out of 13 14 15 players. All the players must get game time. Our batting order was horrendous. We've sat and watched Hossein and Shepherd score with ease while enjoying the challenge. Pollard and Bravo were two dead fish occupying the crease like dogs in a manger. Surely they must cringe when they watch a replay of their performance!

We can do better today and we will.

Rovman let out his secret and the Englishmen were able to plan better for him.

A tactical error. Protected the short boundary too much. The long boundary got milked by Moreno as a result. His entire 50 was 50 sumthin runs too much
