You believe you are de only one

I have observed you predicting WI doom and gloom as the game progresses

Listen chap....this wagon is for POSITIVE VIBES for west indies....those who want to bash WI .. bringing negative vibes are never welcomed....let dem start their own threads.

Doesn't mean genuine WI fans cant vent with a few posts on the thread as the game progresses

Narper 2022-01-30 19:42:03

West Indies make two changes - Darren Bravo and Dominic Drakes out, Fabian Allen and Odean Smith in. England just replace Tymal Mills with Saqib Mahmood. The home side have gone for an extra bowling option and added more power to their batting, while the visitors have almost made a like for like replacement.

Narper 2022-01-30 19:54:05

Kieron Pollard:
Bat. I guess there was a couple of days to prepare the surface (if he feels it will play same like Powell's hundred). Today is a virtue final and you would want runs on the board, let's see how it goes. We have two changes; Darren Bravo is out and so is Dominic Drakes, Fabian Allen and Odean Smith come in.

Drapsey 2022-01-30 19:54:11

CricInfo:

AlistairDiamond: "I'm sad that Phil Salt didn't get a chance to play with Phil Mustard and Graham Onions." Let's just hope Essex's Michael Pepper can make the step up at some stage

What's in a name.

Narper 2022-01-30 19:54:39

Moeen Ali:
I would have bowled first today. We are happy chasing and we chase well generally. The way we bowled yesterday was fantastic and we can take a lot of confidence from that. We have one change; Saqib Mahmood replaces Tymal Mills. It would be great to win after being 2-1 down.

Mayers six! And a four!

Narper 2022-01-30 20:07:43

1.4
Saqib Mahmood to Mayers, SIX, that sound good, is good. Second six of the over and Mahmood immediately under pressure. This was marginally short and Mayers was quick to pick the length, he dispatches it in typical Calypso style pull over deep square leg

1.6
Saqib Mahmood to Mayers, FOUR, ufff! That ball traveled at the rate of knots to the fence. Mayers short-arm jabs it in front of square on the leg-side and there was a fielder in the deep but he had no chance even with a full length dive. Once again pick the length early and got into position to play the one-legged pull

Topley to Brandon King, FOUR, shot! This more out of the textbook. Nothing much wrong with the delivery. Topley offers a bit of width and King crunches the punch in front of square, bisects the two fielders inside the ring and the timing takes it away

Livingstone to Shepherd, out Caught by Mahmood!! The experiment to send Shepherd up the order does not work. He was given the license to go after everything and perishes doing that. This was fuller and in the slot, but there is turn on this surface and the ball did enough to take the outside edge, balloons towards short third man and Mahmood does the rest.

Adil Rashid to Pooran, out Bowled!! This was coming - Pooran was getting imminently frustrated by the leg-spinner. backs away to a loopy wrong 'un - was looking to play with the turn and go over long-off, but this one didn't turn as much as he expected, swings through thin air and the off-stump is pegged back. Rashid has been outstanding right through the tour, not being any different today either.

With the poor 10-15 overs England have a chance to take control of the the game in these overs. They bat out the overs and they should win.

Akeal Hosein to Roy, FOUR, Roy and England are off and running. First ball and Roy needs no sighters. He makes a bit of room and goes bang over the bowler, lofts through the line and clears the infield comfortably

Odean Smith to Moeen Ali, no run, dropped! Holder the culprit. This was a dolly and he made it look difficult. Sport just leveling things up there. It is the hard length and Moeen is caught by surprise, the ball climbs sharply and takes the glove, lobs gently towards slip and Holder makes a completely mess. He moves to his left and grabs at it, the ball slips past his grasp and goes to ground. Smith cannot believe it as he was almost celebrating

Akeal Hosein to Livingstone, out Caught by Odean Smith!! There's the wicket and there's some celebration from Akeal Hosein, this is a massive wicket - dropped short and it's the extra bounce from the wicket that's Livingstone's undoing - can't get on top of the bounce as he shaped for the cut, gets a big top-edge which is swallowed by Odean Smith at backward point. Worried faces in the English camp.

Odean Smith to Jordan, FOUR, 20 from the over, England are right back in this - back of a length and at the stumps, Jordan swivels across and pulls it into the gap at deep mid-wicket, one bounce and over the ropes

The third umpire confirms what we knew all, impact itself is miles outside off

Holder to Jordan, out Caught by (sub)Hayden Walsh!! It's Hayden Walsh and he doesn't drop catches, it's a slower full-toss, perhaps the ideal ball that Jordan would have wanted, was aiming at the shorter boundary with the swipe - just doesn't get enough on the shot though, a reverse cupped catch, right in front of the ropes at deep mid-wicket. But at least, the two batters crossed and Billings will be on strike

7.35pm: Glorious scenes at Kensington Oval, West Indies parading around the boundary for their fans. They clinched the game by a 17-run margin, taking the series 3-2 - and with Jason Holder's four-in-four icing both England and the cake. Only the fourth time in men's T20Is that a bowler has taken four in four balls, a fine way for Holder to finish a series in which he was the leading wicket-taker by a street. He started the series with a career-best, and ends it with another. West Indies came in with storm clouds hovering, following their ODI defeat to Ireland, but seem to have plenty of talent to work with ahead of this year's T20 World Cup. England, well, they talked about squad development in the build-up, and will have got plenty out of the experience - albeit that they might feel this was a winnable match that snuck away from them

7.45pm: Rollicking stuff, now time for the presentations... Starting with Moeen Ali "I thought WI were the better team and overall we didn't adapt that well, but we played some good cricket and it was a very good series. [Death bowling] That's something we're working on, I thought they played some amazing shots towards the end. We're trying to find solutions and we will get better, and some of our other guys come back. The new ball comes on nicely and then when it gets older [it got harder]. But they were very smart, the smarter of the two teams. It was a great series, great spectacle, but disappointing not to win. It's been a great learning, these conditions we've struggled in, we want to get better going forward. Good to see younger guys coming in, Toppers with the new ball and Rash throughout the series was fantastic. It's great to do it, but there's Jos as well, obviously. I don't really think about that too much."

Jason Holder is Player of the Match: "Classic finish, not the best of starts but trying to stay in the game. Total opposite to [yesterday], not starting well but being able to finish. Pride myself on [not bowling] no-balls, pleased with how I came back, bowled a dot ball next up and then they had to come hard. Pumped up for the moment, I love playing at Kensington Oval. We have the best fans in the world. Want to thank the England fans as well."Holder is also the Player of the Series: "There's a lot of hard work. An area I need to improve is my death bowling and variations. I'm improving in the nets, and the captain has the confidence in me. That does a lot for my confidence. People are seeing what I can do an giving me the responsibility. I feel really good about my role, I'll pass on the peripheral noise. Every time I step on the field it's about what I can deliver for the team. Full confidence and thanks to the management staff for giving me this role. Thanks to the ECB and England, they're tremendous players and good people. Looking forward to having them out here and give them a good experience. Look forward to seeing the Barmy Army during the Test series, may the better team win."

sgtdjones 2022-01-30 23:52:53

West Indies captain Kieron Pollard: "It's wonderful. Every single one in that dressing room, we rallied together. Every time we won a game there was something against us but we came out and rallied. Empty vessels make the most noise. The guys have worked tirelessly after coming from Jamaica, and we've bounced back pretty well. We understand what we want to do as a team, and we saw the results tonight. This was virtually a final, when you bat first and put runs on the board, you get 10-15 runs, too, because of the pressure as well. We know in the last four overs we can capitalise. Powell came in and gave us that impetus. Akeal getting that early wicket... Brandon had a great series at the top of the order, Jason Holder getting wickets, Odean Smith coming in after everything that has been said. I thought it was a total team effort."

Well done West Indies. Words can't describe how pleased I am with this team. This makes up for the loss against Ireland because they put aside that disappointment and rallied as a team to get the job done in a must win game. Congratulations!
