GUYANA "PRESIDENT" TALKS BIG AT EXPO BUT......

Emir 2022-02-16 11:51:43

Background: Guyana is hosting a regional Energy Expo. The PM of Barbados and other political and industry leaders are attending or participating via virtual arrangement. The expo ends on Thursday.

Irfaan Ali, who assumed the position of President in a controversial and unresolved election discussed the potential wealth of his country and the ability of that wealth to make Guyana a paradise.

His speech was positive but what was missing is his administration solution to fix Guyana's biggest problem which he has thus far failed to be addressed.

Surely, he must remember that it was certain regional leaders who helped Guyana during the last election stand-off where his party and their supporters refused to accept the result by the ruling party. Many of us were fearful of the potential for violence some of his supporters and others were willing to unleash and we proposed a transitional unitary government that he and his party rejected.

He owes the region an answer and if he believes the problem is over simply because he is in power- he hardly talks about a solution as if suddenly the voting list and election process he and his party lambasted while he was in opposition, is now good and dandy because his party is in power, then he is fooling no one and come next election, the opposition party can use the same tactic of rejecting the election results and holding off asking the region to once again step in.

You sound like a Trumper.

You steal an election by padding the ballot boxes, so when you count the votes, your team comes out ahead.

What was done in Guyana was that spreadsheet numbers didn't match ballot counts, and blatantly presented as such.

By continuing to perpetuate false narratives, you are an accessory to the crime. The current opposition has basically turned over their entire leadership team, which is a good move, and hopefully recognition that they need to move forward from a bare faced attempt by some of their plants,to steal an election. The only people in the world who don't see the truth for what it is, are the supporters of the party.

Very Trump like. The exception is that even Trump recognizes the ballots need to be in the boxes for a party to win.

President Ali: Guyana's oil and gas can make its dreams come true

Hydrocarbons and its revenue would complement the potential for solar energy, water energy, forestation, hydrogen and hydro power.Ali added that their development strategy, while making use of revenue from oil and gas, will be built on a low carbon pathway.

He said Guyana, a world leader in climate change ecosystems and biodiversity, has 18.3 million hectares of standing forest, which covers about 87 per cent of its land area which stores 19.5 gigatons of carbon worth about US$195 billion. The forest contains four per cent of all known plant species in the world and three per cent of all known animal species.

The country’s forestry sector has an estimated value of US$500 billion, and has a deforestation rate of less than 0.05 per cent.“We can sustainably harvest one million cubic metres per year, at present we harvest 400,000 cubic metres valued at US$80 million a year. The sector presents opportunities for large scale downstream processing, prefab housing, prime value added species for niche markets, partnering with environmental services, reforestation programmes and forest plantation, all linked to new emerging and potential markets,” Ali said.

He added that the country has gold reserves estimated at about US$35 billion, quarrying reserves estimated at US$1 billion, diamond reserves at US$750 million as well as silica sand reserves estimated at GYD$37.7 billion. He added that the country also holds tremendous potential in the adventure tourism and golfing industries, as well as the potential to tap into the food processing markets with viable land for poultry, dairy and cattle production.

Guyana plans are not like the Political idiots in T&T over the last 3 decades.
