Was not too impressed with the 50 over selection but see some soundness in the thought process for tests

Liking what I'm hearing from Haynes
In reply to Logic
You agree that Shannon Gabriel's an integral part of our immediate future in test cricket?
In reply to Dukes
Yes.
In reply to culpepperboy
Gabriel cyah even mek Culpepper Island First XI!!!!!
In reply to Dukes
The angel has been written off more times than Trump but keeps coming back fastwr and fitter
In reply to culpepperboy You know he is 34 right!? Future per Dukes question really means for the next 5 years or so. Gabriel never last a full Series much less a year
In reply to Conorboy Faster and better? Really
How so? oh you mean for 1 1/2 Test matches then he gets non-useful and lame
In reply to Scar
exactly 😊
In reply to Logic
What exactly do you like?
In reply to Conorboy
It is truly astonishing how you guys live in a FACT-FREE ENVIRONMENT
In Gabriel's last 5 test matches he has taken 8 wickets for 409 runs at an average of 51.13
In only 1 of those 5 test matches did he not bowl the least( of the fast bowlers) and of course it was the test match ,some 5 test matches ago
He has been off the field in all of those test matches getting work done on various body parts and causing the other fast bowlers to take up the slack
No point ion me posting the numbers because nobody cares to deal with facts.
In reply to Dukes
No. Like you said elsewhere Haynes just being a diplomat. Gabby needs to hang up his boots
In reply to Conorboy
First that he explained his selections. But specifically his rationale for selection of Campbell over Salazano and for DaSilva over Dowrich...but the window being left open through the P11 game. The argument for omission of Chase and Hope - play more red ball cricket. The pronouncement that Pooran is a test cricket candidate and the encouragement of him to play regional 4 day game to bridge the gap.
In reply to Logic
If Dessie was serious he would have asked Pooran to play in the President's XI team. That would have shown that both Dessie is serious and also that Pooran is serious.
Actions speak louder than words.
Allyuh always mekking dem man mamaguy allyiuh with empty lyrics.
P.S None of the so-called Sports Journalists have the intellectual sagacity to ask the right questions.
Must admit I like the test squad but somewhat disappointed with the PXI squad. Particularly disappointed with absence of Motie who will prove he is a better bowler than Permaul or Warrican.

In reply to Logic
Dude the new thinking is that you are not going to expose the touring side to any player they will potentially face in the test.
In reply to Dukes
Not many can!

In reply to Dukes
Pooran like your hommie is not ready for test cricket, they are hitters of the ball. Test cricket calls for batting more than 6 overs.
In reply to tc1
My homie hit them 5 ODI centuries in 6 overs????
All dem batsmen in the President's XI ready fuh test cricket???
In reply to Logic
You must be hearing things as Hayes hasn't said a damn word in a proper media/press conference about his vision, and the rationale for the selectors choices.
In reply to Logic
So rather than pick Pooran to play in the President's XI, the chief selector prefers him to play in a T10 competition? And if we keep organising white ball cricket to coincide with our 4 day competitions when will these players get dat opportunity to play?
In reply to Maispwi
What were they supposed to do? Ban the T10 competition?
In reply to imusic
Haynes could have asked Pooran to play in the President's XI team.If Pooran refused then Haynes could say that he asked and he refused.Pooran could not then say that he wants to play test cricket and then everybody would know exactly what the position is.Instead we have kabuki theater with people saying all kinds of things
It always amazes me how easy it is to fool the masses.
In reply to Dukes
Well youre obviously not the masses so whats your take on the Pooran issue?
BTW
.lets say Haynes did ask Pooran to play Presidents XI and Pooran declined, why does that automatically mean Pooran doesnt want to play test cricket?
Pooran played 4 day cricket for West Indies A on their tour of New Zealand in 2020. Was among the top run getters and best averages.
By your reasoning, wouldnt that be an indicator that he wants to play test cricket
as he has said when interviewed.
In reply to imusic
Anybody who can spend time on this message board clearly does not belong to "the masses" so your comment is unnecessary
If Desmond Haynes really wanted Pooran to play first class cricket he would have selected him for the President's XI.However he wants Pooran to start at the bottom i.e to play for T&T first and earn a President's XI berth based on first class cricket. That is CRAP and Pooran knows it and so does everybody.
IOf you look at some people who have been selected for President's XI teams over the years you would be shocked at the number of less than mediocre players you would find.
Q And A with Dr. Dessie
1. Is the criteria used for selection to President's XI teams and indication of the selectors thoughts on possible future test cricketers and former test cricketers getting back in form for possible recalls or I do you use a different matrix
2.Were Pooran and Hetmyer considered for selection to this President's XI and if they were, why did they lose out?.If they were not considered why were they not?
Question for you music man
Do you think if those questions were asked all of us would be in a better place in terms of knowing how the selection process works in the era of Dr. Dessie?
In reply to imusic
That is a fanciful hypothetical. If that had taken place Dessie would have said so.
In reply to Dukes
The fanciful hypothetical was based on your statement
In reply to Dukes
you have many questions for Dessie in 2 weeks, how come you did not asked Roger any in 2 years, just asking for Sudden.
In reply to tc1
I disagreed many times with Roger so I do not know where you are going with that comment.
In reply to camos
But when you looking at the bowler, the bowler is also looking at you! If that is really the thinking, it is illogical in my view. With respect to the Pooran question, I too would love to see if he can bat in tests but I think that if the thinking behind the PXI is to give some encouragement to players who were left behind and placed FC cricket, it would be wrong just to bring in Pooran. Those guys need to know that their own sacrifices in turning up for training and playing for their country can count for something.
In reply to VoopsandOut
So Pooran doesnt make sacrifices and play for his country/franchise?
In reply to imusic
Stop rationalizing with passport officers please. Their reasoning shifts based on what passport the player owns
