Yes
They were very close.
Condolences.
Moment of silence for Warnie at Coolidge
he did have covid last year bad enough that he was on a ventilator
one of the long term risk of covid infection is a higher risk of heart attacks
Condolences to family members and other loved ones.

THIS - that's way too young
Im shocked
absolutly shocked, one of the great legends, one of the few worldwide cricket stars that everyone, no matter their sport, recognised. He will be very sadly missed.
So sad for all his family and the whole of the cricket world.
RIP Shane- Sad
In reply to LBW375
Absolute shocking and sad. Dying in Thailand feels ignominious for foreigners - too many "open ended" questions about cause of death.
In reply to tigga
He was quite ill with Covid last year
RIP Shane.

Life is uncertain as death is....
RIP Warnie
RIP to top 3 spinners to have played
old wives tale: high profile deaths happen in threes, Marsh..Warnie..
RIP
Walk well legend, too, too young! Marlon Samuels whatever you do please do not comment.Sometumes silence is golden.
I am stunned beyond belief. Not Warne, not so soon. One expected this man to be always there. Aus cricket is reeling, two greats gone in the matter of days, both from or as a result of the dreaded heart attack.
RIP Warnie
RIP Rod.
The world reacts.
It is with great sadness we advise that Shane Keith Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand today, Friday 4th March, the statement says.
Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.
OMG, WTF Rest in peace Warnie
RIP Hollywood!
This was an absolute shock for me and I extend my deepest condolences to his family. A brilliant spinner that broke the record for most test wickets until it was broken by Muttiah Muralitharan. Shane Warne took 708 wickets in 145 matches. I will never forget the delivery in which he bowled Andrew Strauss around his leg in an Ashes series years ago.

No words. A legend has gone and the world lost one of the greatest ever.
Will miss his analysis of the game greatly.

This is truly shocking. So soon after Rod Marsh's death.
WOW Truly a legend.Leg spin bowling is my heart.I felt it is the most intellectual endeavor in cricket requiring intelligence, mystery and guile
Rest In Peace.

Wow Wow...What a double blow.
First wonderful character Rodney Marsh and now the iconic Leggie that restored the art in cricket, Shane Warne at only 52.
Yes ,it's true, Tomorrow is not promised to anyone and in life there is death.
Still, as lovers of cricket ,the passing of these two giants is very sad.
RIP in Rodney and Shane. Your cricket deeds are for eternity.
Condolences to families of both ,their friends and relatives and to the Cricket community especially in the Land Down Under,
Australia.

"old wives tale: high profile deaths happen in threes, Marsh..Warnie.." U forgot Ramadin first.
WOW!!!
I recall after close of play in a test...don't remember if was V WI or Eng, but he had his 3 kids on the field playing with them. He was bowling to his daughter and was sledging her. I'm sure was for fun. I'm really sad.
In reply to tops
missed little pal Ram.. three of best ever
RIP
Wow!!! Just 52! RIP Warney
RIP Warnie
RIP Warney
Thank you for the wonderful memories
One of those few players that set the bar higher than those before him. The man even bowled a bouncer fairly often. Had a few famous all-time deliveries, such as the one to bowl Chanders leg-stump, after pitching way outside off, and the one to bowl that famous English batsman.
Had a few famous quips as a commie too, such as "where is that Fakkar!", as Fakkar's batting partner was being run out!
An all-round entertainer, who went too far sometimes.
Marsh and Warne, two great cricketers have departed. The game is poorer for for their loss. May their Souls RIP.
Shane Keith Warne, thank you for the wonderful memories.
'Simply The Best'.
Watching Sky Sports Cricket, they have a great Tribute for the great man.
We dont need a reminder of how good he was but anyway Warnes first ball in test cricket in England.
WOW! Way too young...condolences to all for the lost of one of our legend RIP Leggie and you were a unique character that lots may not have appreciated but you did things your way!
What a shocker. Thought it was one of those fake death announcement until I double checked.
Don't forget Dean Jones also died suddenly in Mumbai in 2020 at age 59.
RIP Warnie

yeah......but Sonny was 92.....still sad but he had a full life.....Marsh was 74,which is still not terribly old but after 60, any number could call. But Warne......52 is no age to go out at
Just watched his entire cricketing career in a nut shell on Super Sports.
"In conversation with Shane Warne"
Interviewed by Ali Bacher.
Two things I'll always remember about Mr Shane Warne. I can vividly recall the moment he bowled that ball of the century the build up to it and when he landed it and magic from it.
I remember saying to someone he'll become one of the greatest of all times and told by my fellow West Indian to stop talking rubbish and the rest is history.
And the most prominent thing I remember of Warnie is that home series where Brian Lara became a Demi God against Australia, to me it was not Brian Lara feats in that 1998/99 series but the dropping of Shane Warne in that iconic series which I remember most of all. That how I respected him he was more the difference of losing or winning in that series, even more than the Great Brian Lara in my eyes.
a flawed genius
This is truly sad news for cricket lovers everywhere. First Sonny, then Marsh and now the well loved or hated Shane (depending on your perspective). Whatever you may have felt about him, Shane had a huge impact on test cricket as player and then subsequently as coach and commentator. Sonny, Rod, Shane, thank you for all the memories that have made our lives and our favourite sport so much so much richer. My sympathies to the family of all three as well as to our brotherhood of cricket fans who have suffered serious loss this week.

most, if not all geniuses are flawed, some persons flaws are not as transparent, or their flaws are hidden or downplayed by interested parties
Shane Warne is one those players I put on the top shelf.
May he Rest In Peace.
RIP Shane. Deepest heartfelt condolences to his family. That's a shocker!
I am shocked to hear this. He has to be the greatest spin bowler of all time. I also think he was an excellent commentator .very entertaining.
R.I.P. Warnie

it is...
the VALUE of seeing LIVE - Laras 153 at Kensington against the OZZIES has shot up even more now...
RIP Mr warne gone to soon......
Warne was one of the most charming, convivial, mischievous Aussie you could ever hope to meet.
Along with Brett Lee...he was one of my favorites.
RIP mate.....
He certainly did.
Shane caused me to develop a healthy respect and admiration for leg spin.
Growing up putting bat to ball as a youth , one was usually glad..relieved and relaxed to see
a leg spinner brought into the the attack .
The local leg spinner was usually good for a couple of fours/ sixes, spaced out evenly so that his captain will be encouraged to
keep him in the attack.....but...Shane Warne was a leg spin assassin, take no prisoners, made it look easy.
In reply to powen001
indeed. Its surreal though that one of the players in that epic test is no longer with us. To say its a curveball is a gross understatement. I wonder if he and Waugh ever reconciled before his death
RIP will miss his analyses
