HEADLINE: Speculation over what led to Pollards retirement

Amidst speculation over what prompted West Indies white-ball captain and all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, to suddenly retire from international cricket, some observers will probably argue that it came a few months late.
As a limited-overs specialist who built his career on power hitting and supported it with medium-pace bowling, the burly Trinidadian carried an air of authority.
Having made his international debut 15 years ago to the month, Pollard, who celebrates his 35th birthday on May 12, had his admirers and detractors alike.
He took over as the West Indies white-ball captain in September 2019, replacing Jason Holder in One-Day Internationals and Carlos Brathwaite in Twenty20 Internationals.
After West Indies as defending T20 champions failed to reach the semi-finals in the United Arab Emirates and Oman last November, coupled with his disappointing batting, there were calls in several quarters for Pollard to be fired as captain.

Odean only lost his place because there can only be 4 overseas player. Which out of Livingstone, Bairstow, Rabada and the Sri Lankan batsman? He is in the same boat as Evin Lewis.

Bajan's Today
On the point of leadership, it was noticeable, however, that Pollard was losing his confidence with the bat, opting not to promote himself at vital stages.
That's speculation, your honor? only one with hindsight can make such a comment.
The fact that Pollard did not play a Test match was hardly envisaged after he scored an attacking century (126) on debut for Trinidad & Tobago against Barbados at the North Stars ground, Crab Hall, St. Lucy in 2007.
His reputation as one of the most destructive batters in global franchise cricket is well documented. Surely he would have wanted to deliver more for West Indies.
Upon being classified by the experts at WICB to be just a T20 Player, Pollard lost all zeal to represent such an entity.
He noted on a few occasions he would like to play Test Cricket but was never given the opportunity.
Upon acceptance of the T20 position, he noted it would be until a future leader is groomed.
Notice, the difference all T&T cricketers upon wearing its colors, play at a different level. Ever wonder why?

...
When I saw him blocking in yesterday's game, I posted something to the effect that he must be auditioning for a test spot.
Sorry he didn't remain not out though. It might've done wonders for his (this year's) IPL average.

You have a special talent for elevating non-issues into issues for no apparent reason whatsoever. Why not let that sleeping dog lie? BTW your reasoning is so off base that you would be laughed out of a court of law for making it. But let that dog sleeping bossman.

Playing for T&T , they are motivated to do their best for the twin islands.
They are not treated the same way by CWI/WICB.....
How can we judge someone if they were never given a chance after playing in Barbados .. 4-day cricket?

exactly.....while the good bajan, talentless boyscouts like RTN,miguel cummings etc were lauded by the myopic media in this region as defenders of the test game when it really was they weren't good enough to get and fulfill their contracts abroad. RTN's last season in the ipl saw him going to schools in india..........he barely played a game

Ouch Musicman. Seems like I really touched a nerve a while back with that thread Polly/Smith thread. I know that you have a man-crush on Polly, but I had no idea it would propel you to misconstrue my clear and unambiguous statement. Perhaps you should take off your blinders and re-read my statement about Jumpy's reasoning before accusing me of casting aspersions on Polly. I suspect Jumpy understood my point, which simply dealt with the implications of Smith being dropped by his IPL team - nothing more. But you can feel free to take the baton and run with it.

I am not surprised that a shit stirrer like you would make such a post.
But I politely told Jumpy to let sleeping dogs lie, and cry-music (tm Fuzzy) called me a liar in not so many words. Let's see if he continues and wakes up the dog.

So..lets unpack some things.
Every player wants to do well for his individual country.
CWI represents the ENTIRE region not individual countries...like it or lump it- their view OUGHT to be the Holistic overall GOOD, not individuals or one flag only.
the last statement is just lamentations and not even biblical ones so I leave that outside of the offstump.

Well, at least you're on the ground now and not sitting on the fence.

Since you are into biblical theories,
I am not.
Can your theory show how we can classify a player, and then be deemed to be
a T20 player only by WICB and not given an opportunity to play Test Cricket?
Discarded from the game by management then must give their best when selected?
When has WICB/CWI shown it has the best interest of past and present players at heart?
They are pawns to be used and then discarded.
Do your biblical Quotations show such references to be used?
Your reference to Lamentations does it includes the God of violence who is an experienced one as noted in your book of fables, then I reckon it is normal to treat humans as such.
Your Off stump is missing, you forgot to unpack it.
