Reports have surfaced that Shimron Hetmyer was not on the contracted list of 15 players by Guyana Harpy Eagles for the coming year after the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Professional Player draft on June 17.

High-placed sources indicated to News Room Sport that Hetmyer opted out of contract, but Guyana Cricket Board President (GCB) and CWI Director, Bissoondyal Singh, indicated that is not the case, but rather “there was a mutual agreement.”

“He has never refused a contract.” Singh told News Room Sport on the sidelines of an event on Tuesday.

I do not know what the real truth is in this situation. However I would say that whatever the President of the Guyana Cricket Board says is unlikely to be the truth.

A number of interesting tidbits in that quote

“High placed sources”. As opposed to “low placed”?

“There was a mutual agreement” “he has never refused a contract”

Some serious politic speak there.

Could be Interpreted a number of ways:
We never offered him a contract therefore he couldn’t refuse something that wasn’t offered.

We offered a contract. He countered with his own offer and we could not come to an agreement so we both walked away

We offfered a contract and he said he have baby to mind now

We offered a contract and he failed his fitness test thereby disqualifying him from the contract so he never refused.

And so on and so on and so on. cool

Romario Shepherd is another top player not on the list, but it is understood he will be named as part of CWI’s international white-ball retainer contracts, an elevation from his Regional contract.

Which would also mean Hetmyer has either been overlooked for an international retainer or has refused one.

Unless he decides to discipline himself and tow the line, his career is over.

If he's going to go focus solely on T/20 cricket and go globetrotting then his test and odi career is over.

Failed fitness tests, injuries, security concerns, bubble fatigue, paternity leave.

Been various reasons over the last couple of years why he hasn't played as much international cricket as he should.

This is the kind of attitude that creates prima Donna’s

Brian Lara had 2 world records at 25. Feeerer and nadal had multiple grand slams. Etc etc

Hety chose cricket as his career and so far he hasn’t respected the game nor has he done justice to his career.

If he doesn’t mend his ways, his playing days for the West Indies could be over.

IPL etc he can still go on but again, don’t these guys want to play for their country at all?

No It’s not, but it’s sad isn’t it that these young talents just want to go play club cricket in other countries, at the cost of representing their countries

Hety is the most talented batsman in the Caribbean
I do hope he stay focus and willing to play all three formats am sure he is good enough
He is my favorite batsman, I really wish him well in future
His ODI stats show he can bat.
His ODI century against Eng In Barbados was a gem.
