Shivnarine Chanderpaul appointed head coach of USA Women's Team

Former West Indies batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been snapped up by USA Cricket as the head coach of the Women's national side as well as their U19 team. Chanderpaul's tenure - for one and a half years until the end of 2023 - begins on Sunday (July 3) as the U19 side gear up for the Under-19 T20 Championship, in Trinidad and Tobago, from July 5.

"I am excited to have been appointed as the Head Coach of the USA National Women's Team and Women's Under 19 Team. The Women's game is something I am a huge advocate of, and I have followed the progress of the USA Women's National team with keen interest," Chanderpaul said following his appointment

Congrats Shiv. You are more than capable of taking the women cricketers
much higher level as long as you get the support you will need. Good luck Great one//

Shiv may just be that guy that marries a lady cricketer and have two or three WI cricketers as kids.

Should he be successful and get the US rolling at both levels, then it's inevitable that a higher ranked country would show interest.

Hey that's how Phil got himself a deal with a Full Member, built up his acumen with Associate nation coaching.

Womens U19

The United States, coached by former Guyana captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul, whipped Jamaica by seven wickets in the earlier game at Tarouba.

Jamaica, who were sent in to bat, were restricted to 49/5 in their allotted 20 overs, with Gabrielle Bryan the only batter to reach double figures, with an unbeaten 12, off 30 balls. Such was the lack of urgency of the Jamaica batters that they only struck three fours in their entire innings.

Anika Kolan made 11 not out as the Americans responded with 53/3 off 11.2 overs.
