PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad – Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) Senior Men’s Selection Panel today named the 13-player squad to face India in the three-match CG United ODI Series in Trinidad.

The teams will compete for the CG United trophy. The three matches will be played on Friday 22 July, Sunday 24 July and Wednesday 27 July at the historic Queen’s Park Oval. All matches start at 9:30am (8:30am Jamaica Time/7pm India time).

The Selection Panel recalled experienced all-rounder Jason Holder, who returns to the squad after missing the Bangladesh Series to help manage his workload as one of the West Indies all format players.

In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com A batting lineup that never scored 200 in three games against a weaker Bangladesh team is retained? Where is Hetmyer? Where is Bravo? Do we have better players? Then why drop Shepherd and play Kemo Paul? Sorry I think Sir Desmond Haynes is doing more harm to our cricket than those before him.

Bishop made comments that he would've called up Blackwood and Campbell, I agree that they should have rotated and changed personnel.

With Paul and Powell picking up injuries in the final odi, I wouldn't risk them.

Are there any updates on Campbell's situation with missing the drug testing? I understand that Hetmyer has been added to the players in Trinidad and may be considered for the T20s only. The cupboard is bare so it is just really changing for the sake of changing and hoping for a miracle.

Campbell?
Is he a relative?

Blackwood should be in the side and also Chase.

We’ll probably lose 3-0 unless holder can do something special with both bag and ball to win us one game

Yah that’s my exact feeling. What’s going with Royston Chase? Can anyone throw some light?

When Sir Desmond Haynes was made Chief Selector I wasn’t high on him but still thought he would at least try to restore Bravo and Hetmyer, our two best talents since Lara. But when I saw Sir Desmond Haynes took Raymond Riefer, who batted at #7 for Barbados and somehow used him as number 3 batsman for West Indies I knew the future of our cricket looked much darker than I ever thought. To me no matter time of day Riefer came to bat he always looked like a poor night watchman that would not survive 30 minutes. Man what a mess our cricket is in. I mean why try to convert a # 7 bowling all rounder into a # 3 batsman when you have the likes the young Jamaican opener who played a test in Sri Lanka but got injured while fielding? Wouldn’t he be a better option than Riefer just like Richie Richardson, a known opener but because of Haynes and Gordon had to bat at # 3?

Dessie must had been godlike for you, to think he can restore anyone.

Glad Holder is back

Abject and pitiful performances will now be at least just poor

Hetmyer has played only 2 ODI's in 2020 and 2021 each year He has scored 4 MOM match winning centuries and another century and 90 odd all these innings being faster than run a ball.
Here is a fact.
NO OTHER WI BATSMAN HAS DONE THAT IN THE LAST 4 YEARS!!!!

VoopsandOut Jul 19, 2022, 8:00:02 AM

with a test average of almost 28, Hety is right up there with the current WI test batsmen.

I'd pick Chase in the upcoming 'A' series against Bangladesh in the hope that he can rediscover some form with his batting.

Why do you insist on rating Hetmyer by year, when Dukes already pointed out that the said player played 2 matches in each of the most recent years
(2020 and 2021)? What meaningful conclusions can be drawn from dispersed samples of 2? Insane. Also, no one here was focusing on test, but specifically ODIs.

You probably think Brooks and Mayers are superior, hence the skewed and illogical analysis.

What I got from his stats especially yearly, he had two productive years, he is one of two players Dukes claim to be the best in the region, I don't see it.
He has one FC ton, one T20 ton and 5 ODI tons.

You probably think Brooks and Mayers are superior, hence the skewed and illogical analysis.

I don't need to repeat what I think of Brooks, was informed about his lack of batsmanship from his U19 days, Mayers is a newbie to me.

In reply to openning I think that is what Dukes is pointing out( ODI & T20 not Test). As you said he has 5 ODI Tons and is pretty good at T20 and since this is an ODI Series why not select him. Its where his stats are better than most WI bats.

This is all I'm concerned about. Your own stats defeat your argument. If Hetmyer has demonstrated superior results (ODIs) when he plays in excess of 10 matches in any year, then it supports the case for his inclusion, to be given a longer run...no? It is not as if the incumbents are blazing a trail of excellence.
