HAVING signalled recovery from his shoulder injury, West Indies top-order batsman Brandon King is determined to maintain form for what he hopes will be a competitive showing from the regional side at the ICC Twenty20 World Cup this year.

King's comments came after he produced a Man of the Match performance which saw West Indies to a consolation eight-wicket win over New Zealand in the final game of their three-match series at Sabina Park on Sunday.

The 27-year-old, who missed the first two games — which West Indies lost by 13 runs and 90 runs, respectively — due to the injury, said he was always eager to get a taste of the action. And when the opportunity came, he had no intentions to disappoint.

Playing his first international game on home soil, King smashed a 35-ball 53, including four boundaries and three sixes, in a 102-run opening stand with Shamarh Brooks who was unbeaten on 56 off 59 balls. The partnership was the foundation for West Indies getting to 150-2 with an over to spare in response to New Zealand's 145-7.

"It was very frustrating [sitting out the first two games], but obviously you have to think long term when you have injuries because you don't want to put yourself in a complicated position. But, I was itching to get out there and thankfully, I was able to do it for at least one game this series," King said in a post-game interview.

Since when 27 year olds are past their prime. It is the beginning of the height of when they should be performing due to maturity Physically & mentally), over 1000 hours of practice, knowledge of opposing bowlers etc. It has been said that fast bowlers hit their prime from 25 years of age on w batsmen should be the same and go on towards their middle 30s. Some here are the same ones who asked to copy OZ who introduced a couple of players at 30 years of age who went on to perform well in Tests for 5 plus years. Allyuh want a team of 19 to 22 year olds who are mentally not ready and then cry boo hoo when they show their immaturity.
Be happy the young man is performing after some setbacks and is feeling a bit more sure of himself and in his ability.

Go back and analyze our best performers and come back and tell me their ages when they hit the scene..

King is swing and miss .. he is not consistent and the reason being?? He might had started out as a quality red ball player but white ball got in the way and King lost his way

1) He is a natural talent. I often render him "a poor man's Kane Williamson". If allowed a run at ODIs and Test this would be more evident to non-believers. By the way, my definition of "natural talent" is among other things, (a) can score freely (b) has more than one way to get the ball off the square (c) aesthetically pleasing to the eyes as his shots come easily. Before you challenge me, note that "Natural talent" does not always come to the fore the way we would like. I digress

2) What evidence do you have that he is "past his prime"? His last 4 T20 and ODI innings have been among the best of his career and based on his 2022 batting his averages in both formats have gone up. If a man's average has gone up I do not call it "past his prime" however, I am curious as to how you came to that conclusion and await edification.
