Jamaica Tallawahs have won the toss and have opted to field

Narper 2022-09-15 13:45:46

Rovman Powell:
Finally I win a toss. We are gonna have a bowl. There's a bit of inclement weather. Barbados have a strong batting line-up, we want to see how they bat on this wicket. Kennar picked up an injury yesterday. Brooks comes in. Guys are ready.

Narper 2022-09-15 13:46:11

David Miller:
We were gonna bowl as well. We have played really good cricket, it's about keeping those standards high. Guys are in a great space. For us, it's about resetting every game. One change, Joshua Bishop comes in.

Narper 2022-09-15 13:46:34

Pitch Report | Daren Ganga:
This pitch will offer more consistent bounce and will offer more penetration for the spinners. Expect more turn. If you get to 150, you have a chance of winning. Batting has to be traditional - one of the top four has to bat through.

Castled 2022-09-15 13:49:53

Finally I win a toss.

All cappos say that.
Toss too weighted in favor of chasing team.
Pollard lucky wins 99% tosses fears batting first

Migael Pretorius to Miller, 1 run, dropped! Jangoo puts down a straightforward chance and this could be a big miss, given Miller's recent form. Was a hard length ball that bounced extra off the deck, cramped Miller completely and he got it off the shoulder of the blade. Jangoo flung his left hand with the dive, but couldn't hold on

Narper 2022-09-15 16:01:45

Brandon King and Jangoo are at the crease.

Brandon King is on strike.

Holder will open the attack

Narper 2022-09-15 16:02:02

0.1
Holder to Brandon King, 2 runs, with a slip in place, Holder starts with a full delivery. Brandon King's bottom hand comes off the bat handle as he goes over mid-on. More height than distance. Fortunately for King, it was just out of mid-on's reach who ran back

Narper 2022-09-15 16:02:15

0.3
Holder to Jangoo, FOUR,126.9kph, Jangoo chases this wide delivery and gets it off the toe-end. Cornwall, at first slip, not only doesn't dive but also pulls his left hand in to let the ball go past him

Halliwell 2022-09-15 16:02:49

Narper 2022-09-15 16:03:12

0.4
Holder to Jangoo, FOUR, 127.4kph, Holder switches to round the wicket to bowl a length ball, Jangoo opens his bat-face and guides it in the gap between first slip and short third man

Narper 2022-09-15 16:07:44

1.6
Bishop to Jangoo, FOUR, overpitched, width on offer as well, Jangoo leans forward and hammers the drive through the covers. Extra cover chases but can only escort the ball to the fence

Windiesfan78 2022-09-15 16:07:55

Errrrrrrr, this is not the start I wanted!! BRING ON the deadly spinner Rahman.

Narper 2022-09-15 16:09:37

2.1 Corbin Bosch to Brandon King, FOUR, that's a cracking shot! 137.4kph, length ball outside off, Brandon King stands tall, stays leg-side of the ball and hammers it wide of mid-off. Stand and deliver stuff from King!

Narper 2022-09-15 16:14:46

In reply to Windiesfan78

3.2
Mujeeb to Brandon King, SIX, full in the slot at 93.9kph, Brandon King hoists it over long-off. Gets under the ball and swings through the line

Narper 2022-09-15 16:15:21

3.4
Mujeeb to Jangoo, FOUR, 90.2kph, full delivery from round the wicket, Jangoo moves leg-side in an attempt to go over the off-side. Slices off the outer edge

Narper 2022-09-15 16:19:49

4.3
Obed McCoy to Jangoo, out Caught by Corbin Bosch!! One shot too many! 121.1kph, the slower ball does the trick for Obed McCoy. Slow and pace off, Jangoo is early into his loft. A sitter for mid-off. Jangoo is gone

Yup, I knew I would lose eventually. 6 out of 7 ain't too bad. Better to lose now than when it matters the most. GAW know a lot about that razz. I wouldn't have a problem with GAW winning the competition, just not TKR again.

Looks like that 6 from Powell made the difference. Tallawahs 6 ahead on DLS.

Rovman is a boss

Last ball six to win it before the rain

Rain stops play
BR 146/6 (20)
JT 126/5 (17) CRR: 7.41 REQ: 7

Jamaica Tallawahs need 21 runs in 18 balls

Imad Wasim 3(3)
Rovman Powell 12(18

That six last over looks so much significant now

DLS Par score is 120, so the Tallawahs are clear of that and they have their skipper to thank. That six last over looks so much significant now.

That is what you call a Big 6!

It was so important in the context of the match. Happy it was off Holder too

End the game, I will take the loss, it just means that the next team will get thumped up.

14:33 Local Time, 18:33 GMT, 00:03 IST: The inevitable has happened. Game has been called off.

The rain refused to relent and it means that the Tallawahs have sneaked up a win on the basis of DLS method.

It was a fine margin really, because if the game was halted an over earlier, they would have actually lost this game. Yes, you read that right. Despite having a racy powerplay and cruising the chase for half of the innings, a sudden implosion out of nowhere meant that the Royals were in with a sniff of snatching another win. However, they were denied in the end and it's their first loss of the season.

Cricinfo says Tallawahs won by 6 runs, batting second. Is it that DL changes the order of things?

It was a see-sawing contest in the end: Tallawahs were dominating 12 overs into the chase, when they needed 40 from 48 balls with eight wickets in hand. Holder hit back with through multiple strikes, with Royals having recovered from 47 for 4 earlier. Thanks for joining us today, as a tight game comes to an end.

Imad Wasim is the Player of the Match: "Today was a good game for both teams. [Worried] slightly... We knew Rovman was in. He is the right guy. I know him since 2015 - lovely chap, one of the best players in the world..."

2.32pm So Tallawahs win by six runs via DLS, as the umpires have concluded that there will be no play as rain continues. This means Royals suffer first defeat of the season.

2.30pm There is still no sign of play in Port of Spain, as rain falls steadily. Remember, Tallawahs will win by six runs via DLS method if no play is possible from here.

Steve: "So, is it the case that if play had been suspended a mere 3 balls earlier Royals would have pulled off a spectacular win (assuming no more play)?" --- Who knows, but Tallawahs did manage a crucial nine runs off those three balls..
