Narper 2022-09-27 22:36:09

Faf du Plessis:
We're going to chase. I think this is a really good wicket and we're mindful of the dew factor. It's always pleasing to come into a knockout game knowing that you have beaten your opponent but this is a different game.

Narper 2022-09-27 22:36:55

Rovman Powell:
We have lot of improvement to make from the last few games, so that's what the talk has been. We are in a position now where we need a win and there are some guys who are eager to come to the party.

Pitch report:
"It's pitch no.5 again but it's a night game. It is looking delightful but the breeze isn't as much as it was in the day game. Looks browner and there are some cracks but it looks hard underneath. Bowlers need to focus on that good length spot as anything full has disappeared, especially for the spinners. Dew has been an effect in the night games at this venue." reckon Samuel Badree and Daren Ganga.

Narper 2022-09-27 23:02:17

Brandon King and Kennar Lewis are at the crease.

Brandon King is on strike.

Forde will open the attack

Narper 2022-09-27 23:04:55

0.4
Forde to Kennar Lewis, no run, celebrappeal from Forde but the umpire isn't interested one bit. And rightly so because Lewis did get a faint inside edge on this and the impact was dicey as well. Forde is getting the ball to come back in sharply with this new ball and Lewis generally doesn't move his feet at all

Alzarri Joseph to Brandon King, no run, jaffa to start from Joseph! Forde is getting the ball to shape in and this lad now starts with an unplayable outswinger. Pitched on middle-and-off and curled away sharply to whiz past King's outside edge. Top nut!

What does Tallawahs see in Lewis? Man failed so many times!

Narper 2022-09-27 23:13:56

2.6
Forde to Brandon King, FOUR, beautifully played! Not all that full but there is width on offer and King times this square-drive really well. Threads the gap at backward point and the dewy outfield does the rest

Narper 2022-09-27 23:14:51

3.1
Alzarri Joseph to Kennar Lewis, SIX, KABOOM! Lewis was itching to play the big shot since long and he finally smokes one, way over deep mid-wicket

Narper 2022-09-27 23:16:55

Kings review for LBW. Looked quite close in real time but could be a marginal call eventually. Has Brandon King hit this?

Narper 2022-09-27 23:19:11

3.3
Alzarri Joseph to Brandon King, out Lbw!! Joseph draws first blood! Always looked out in real time and it's actually surprising that it wasn't given on-field. In-angler from Joseph, kept low and that's what undid King here. Got stuck in the crease and played all around this one, unable to get his bat down in time. Struck on the front pad in front of middle and this would have hit middle-and-leg for sure.

Given LBW

4.1
Forde to Kennar Lewis, out Lbw!! This time the celebrappeal is on target from Forde! Nearly had Lewis in his previous over and this time it's a done deal. That nip-backer that does the trick. Lewis never looked comfortable against it and this darted sharply to rap him on the pad with his feet going nowhere at all. Definitely crashing into the sticks and the ump didn't waste any time in raising his finger. Tallwahs have been rocked early here.

Kennar Lewis lbw b Forde 10(10) [6s-1]

XDFIX 2022-09-27 23:31:47

Playing the same man Lewis over and over and expecting different results is plain stupidity on Tallawahs part!

Narper 2022-09-27 23:32:15

5.6
Williams to Shamarh Brooks, FOUR, elegant shot from Brooks to end the powerplay! Fractionally short and there is width, he stands tall and eases the square-cut off the back foot. Just need to find the gaps on this outfield

Williams to Powell, FOUR, just past the diving Faf at mid-off! Did he get a hand on this? Oh yes, he did. It was a chance! Definitely one that he would take by his standards and this could be a huge moment in the game. Was a blistering drive from Powell, saw the ball pitched up and didn't hold back at all. Thumped it uppishly but couldn't really find the gap as we would have liked. His counterpart saves the day for him

Tallawahs review for LBW.
8.3
Jeavor Royal to Powell, out Lbw!! Huge breakthrough this! The dangerous Powell has to depart. Went for the slog sweep against the arm-ball that kept a fraction low to sneak under his blade. Hit him on the back leg and it looked out in real time. Which is why it was given on-field and that's what proved to be crucial in the end. Ball tracking showed it to be clipping leg stump, umpire's call and so Powell has to go. Review retained

13.3
Mark Deyal to Shamarh Brooks, SIX, back-to-back sixes and the Tallawahs are swinging the momentum back to their side, Deyal dragged the length back, but it's way too short, allows Brooks to rock back and pummel the pull over mid-wicket

Amir to Charles, out Bowled!! Knocks him over! That trademark inswinger from Amir and this is a proper misjudgement of length from Charles. He backed away early, got himself into a proper pickle trying to cut a delivery that was never there for it. MIsses it completely and it's a bail trimmer. It's been a tidy start from the Tallawahs and this wicket should further their confidence.

Imad Wasim to Dickwella, out Caught by R Reifer!! Imad wins the matchup! Left-hander against the left-arm spinner is always an exciting battle, particular when it's an aggressive batter like Dickwella. Imad Wasim to Roston Chase, out Caught by Nabi!! Imad with another breakthrough! This is a fielder's wicket though - terrific work by Nabi at short mid-wicket. It was dipping on him and he dived forward to pluck it inches above the ground. Was the arm-ball, Chase was a bit early on the flick and ended up chipping it uppishly. Lovely take from the Afghanistan veteran. The umpires do refer it, but the soft signal was OUT and it didn't really need many replays for the third umpire to confirm the dismissal.

Amir to Alzarri Joseph, FOUR, useful runs for Joseph, but is all too late? On a good length and well wide of off, had the room to free his arms and he sends the drive behind square on the off-side, bounces away to the ropes in a hurry

Amir to Williams, out Caught by Kennar Lewis!! .. And he can't, no wonder Joseph can't hide his disgust at the bowler's end. A pretty ordinary shot, no wonder Alzarri Joseph is livid with his partner, he's still shaking his head in dismay.

Williams c Kennar Lewis b Amir 0(2)
