Barbados Royals have won the toss and have opted to bat
Narper

Mayers:
We'll have a bat first. I think scoreboard pressure is crucial. Conditions are great for batting or bowling, it's all about our preference and that's batting first.
Narper
2022-09-30 22:37:14
Powell:
Early wickets will be crucial, they have some in-form guys at the top, so if we can take early wickets, we can put pressure on their middle order. Unfortunately he (Amir) is out. Pretorius is in. Just want to focus on our positives.

Pitch report:
"Nice breeze blowing in. Pitch no.4 being used. There is a short boundary straight at one end while the other sides are around 64-65 meter range, pretty even. It's the same pitch where Jamaica made 226 against Guyana. The first few overs have been tricky, see off those overs and it gets progressively better to bat, and make big runs. Dew factor does help chasing. Rollicking contest coming up." reckon Samuel Badree and Danny Morrison.

Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
I suspect I am nervous because the Tallawahs have woken up in a huge way with plenty MOMENTUM behind them.
I dont think there is any score we can put up they wont chase down UNLESS we get KING, POWELL and BROOKS cheaply

Migael Pretorius to Cornwall, SIX, this is one of Cornwall's favourite shots - the pick-up stroke and he sends this deep into the stands at backward square leg. Leg-sidish half-volley, too easy for the power of this man and he makes merry

Migael Pretorius to Mayers, FOUR, Royals are having a move on! This is a scorcher of a stroke! Not all that full but there is width and Mayers stands tall to thump this wide of extra cover. On the up, through the line and away to the fence. Early signs that we have a cracker of a deck here in the final

Chris Green to Cornwall, 1 run, dropped! Reifer puts down a sharp chance at square leg. Dived one-handed to his right and actually got to this but then put it down. Short fine leg eventually chased it down. Was a wild slog sweep from Cornwall, got only the inside half of the blade and didn't keep it down either. Survives

Fabian Allen to Mayers, out Bowled!! Allen the man with the golden arm! He's been Powell's go-to man all through this season, we saw him take the massive wicket of Faf in the eliminator and here, he takes the massive scalp of Mayers. Was fired in around off, a bit too full for the slogsweep that Mayers was trying. Missed it altogether and heard the rattle of timber behind him.

It's amazing. Great bunch of guys and I'm very glad. In T20, at the end of the tournament you need to get the momentum which we did. The game before also, the crowd here supported us and today too. They've been terrific. He (Powell) has matured a lot as the captain and is one of the best players in the West Indies. He's been playing well across the globe, in the IPL and all, I'm sure this will be a great achievement for him.

It (the title) means a lot. Nobody gave us a chance to get past the first round, let alone win it. Was a wonderful performance and we were deserving winners. We didn't rely on one or two players, at any stage any player could step up. We have been a family and we believed that we could win the trophy. And we did.

Early on I was disappointed (at not playing today). But now it is all fine. It is an amazing feeling and I don't have words to explain. Great feeling for the Jamaica to have won for the first time since 2016. I was frustrated after the start they got. It was a pure, pure team effort. It is my second season in the CPL and it was an amazing experience. I look forward to the next year.

Kyle Mayers | Losing captain:
It was a tough pill to swallow. We lost only three games in the season. Kudos to the opposition, I thought they played really well. We were 20 runs short after the start we got. I thought we should have got to 180. The ball got pretty well. Our main bowler, Mujeeb, really struggled to grip the ball. But we could have been a bit more disciplined with the ball. It was a brilliant season for us. In the last two seasons we were last and second last. To lose only three games is a very big improvement and hopefully we can cross the line in the next season.
