A loss is a loss...

I am sick and tired of looking for positives in a loss.

I want the team to show fight and win.

AGREED!!!! We had a chance to pull it off too!! Those were two standard catches that were dropped.

positiveg 2022-10-05 12:49:55

In reply to Narper

they showed some fight
yes they lost but I can take this and expect them to do better and win next game.
Shouldn't be any excuses next game, them drop catch and that one over by Cotterrel cost us.

Come on we should have scored fifteen or so more runs.
We fell down in three departments : batting, bowling and fielding.
That said, it was much closer than I expected and Yannic had a very good debut match.

Don’t forget that King, Powell, Mayers and Holder just arrived in Australia yesterday after traveling for 35 hours.

If they was inhabitants of the coral island partially in the Atlantic, you'd have no problem. Allyuh sit through 5 years of holder's disastrous tenure and said nothing. In fact, a certain female pm was guarding against wholesale changes after Cameron lost. And the only person whose job were in danger were the coach and the captain

I want the same thing you want. But a fighting loss is better than a capitulation in my book. We have had too many capitulations lately. We should’ve won today though, but I doubt many of us expected the fight we saw today under difficult circumstances

We took a team of washed up non-performing geriatrics to the last world cup and our performances showed. It matters not which islands they were from. But since we are talking about past WC victories, how many WC trophies would we have without the exploits of your favorite whipping boy RTN? smile

Conorboy 2022-10-05 13:23:19

Absolutly, give me fight anyday and I honestly think the situation with Humpty might help that.
Remember what it did in Bangladesh with a somewhat similar scenario

How can you say they weren't performing? We had beaten Australia in a t20 series, lost a closely contested series vs SA and had beaten SL at home and abroad(in 2020). The world cup didn't go well, but that has more to do with the fact that the grounds were bigger and the wickets had more seam movement. India had the very same struggles as us and only beat Afghanistan, namibia and scotland. The 2012-2016 side would have struggled as well because the pitches were different to the ones they encountered in SL, Bangladesh and India.

Ey...everyboody does have a lucky day.....we may not have won, i admit. If the final went according to the script and we had 19 runs off 6 balls with holder at the wicket(pollard was injured). But we sure would have reached the final because his contribution during the entire series was virtually negligible.

Where would the entire team be without gayle's hundred in the first game, simmons' 86 n.o vs india, bravo's slower ball to get rid of AB on 0, Russell's 40+ off nothing in the semifinal vs india?

Oz can be less than their best, play sloppily, and still win

We need to play at or very near our best, in all departments, to win

That’s basically the difference between the 2 teams

your animus for Carlos has to do with the fact that he did not follow your script for sabotaging CWI and instead went back and told Conde of your plans.

He didn't need to follow "Dina's instructions". Just being cameron's little lapdogs and captaining second string teams to defeat after defeat made the team irrelevant enough. Imagine the only memory of the 2019 disaster is carlos innings and dancing with rihanna like a 7ft moron.......after a loss. This after excellent performances by oshane, dre rus, cottrell and co in the first two games vs pakistan and australia

Defending and refusing to criticize them for poor performances is the same thing home. As i said earlier. You guys sat down through holder and RTN's disastrous tenures and said nothing. When WI had australia 80-5 in the world cup after being terrorized from oshane, sheldon and russell, and then holder put on ashley nurse, who should not have even been part of the squad, and was subsequently pasted, yall said nothing. Instead, you criticized hetmeyer and russell for giving their wickets away in a 280+ chase, when they should really have been chasing max 150.

That being said....i aint criticizing mayers. Dude is a really good cricketer who adds energy and skill to the team

Ok so you cannot find an example of me defending my homies, so you resort to accusing me of refusing to criticize my homies. Kindly point to an example where someone solicited my opinion about the performances of the bajans in the match today and I "refused" to offer an opinion. You will find no such instance, but look nonetheless.

By the way, my best friend called this morning after the game ended and we were talking about how the bajans literally dropped the match. Yuh satisfied now? smile

You have to read Jumpy and Overthrow posts to know their take on players.
Rosman spoke of disrespect, Overthrow was the top culprit, Amir when after him during the series, making him confess on live TV, that will not be going downstairs to do the post match interview.
Jumpy should stay far away from representing any group of players, not only is he a divider, but he carry so much malice, to anyone that disagree with him.
He love yes people, players like Carlos, Jason and others whose opinions differed from WIPA during his Presidency, are seen by him as lackeys.
Please note, that are al Barbadians.

I have been the most critical of Pooran’s performances. He clearly can’t manage the workload of captaincy and his batting(although he got a good ball today). I’ve said it on more than one occasion.

You should know, Barbados is small, but always had strength.
The T20 format has been slow for Barbadian cricketers, but have no fear, that will be remedy soon.

Jumpstart 2022-10-05 23:55:32

In reply to openning
Dais excellent. The fall of the WI is related to the fall in cricketing standards in Barbados. A position put out by Rudi Webster. Barbados hasn’t been good at any format for the last 25+ years which is why the last great the island most obsessed with cricket produced entered the scene 43 years ago.

. About 25 years ago, a friend who had just returned to South Africa from Barbados as manager of a junior South Africa team told me that the standard of youth cricket and school cricket in Barbados was disappointingly low and that a decline in West Indies cricket would inevitably follow.

In the last ICC World T20 we won in 2016:

Gayle - 37
Samuels - 35
DJ Bravo - 33
Sammy - 33
Benn - 35
Badree - 35

Ramdin and Simmo were 31. That is a really old team.

I want a team that wins, we have been fighting long enough now. Losing by 1 run or 50 runs equates to the same thing, a LOSS! As Brandy sings, Almost doesn't count!

Walco 2022-10-06 13:45:12

In reply to Windiesfan78
Boss we all would prefer wins. But give me close losses any day over demoralizing massacres. I will get up at 4 AM to watch a fighting team, but I will not lose sleep to watch my team get massacred ...

Walco 2022-10-06 13:49:51

In reply to nick2020
That was a veteran team in 2016, but the team last year was old and nonperforming. Gayle and Bravo were 4 years older and Russell probably should not have played in the WC after suffering a serious hamstring injury weeks prior to the World Cup. They even tried to resurrect Castro, remember?

nick2020 2022-10-06 14:06:11

The fall of Barbados cricket started a long time ago, various reasons created the under-development of Barbados cricket.
A number of fans, think solely of clubs, being promoted into the highest devision, not seeing or thinking of the development of players.
The development of players is the reason or greats from Barbados was able to move from club and regional cricket into the international arena, they were the best in the Island, not so anymore.
These greats played and competed among the best players in the Island every weekend.
Spartan vs Empire was like watching a heavy boxing match, both these team, cannot produce a solid international cricketer, our top players are not competing against each other, every weekend.
The product is devalue, because of the Elite and first division, competing for the same players.
An elite or 1st division consisting of eight teams, with Cave Hill and a youth team part of the eight, will bring Barbados cricket development back.
