The pilot of a JetBlue Airways aircraft approaching the Piarco International Airport around 12.30 pm Monday, was forced to take evasive action to avoid close contact with a Caribbean Airlines aircraft which was on a trajectory to cross JetBlues path at nearly the same altitude.
The pilot took the decision independent of air traffic controllers, as he spotted the danger and alerted the Piarco Tower to it.
JetBlue 1817 was flying at 4,150 feet in an easterly direction over the Gulf of Paria on its final approach to Piarco at 12.34 pm when it contacted the Piarco Tower and was told by an air traffic controller to continue its approach

Jet Blue avoided crash with Carib Airlines
Caribbean pilots so far never had a major accident, never heard of Air Jamaica or Caribbean Airlines involved in such high risk.
In reply to Slipfeeler
Yeah from Caribbean Airways before BWIA to AJ to CAL, no fatatlities, no incidents, and they were in the game very early and stuck around very long, before and longer than many large US and other international carriers ,almost perfect safety records across the board save that incident in Guyana a few years ago resulted in the only hull loss...
What about LIAT ? Same ?

The smell from a passenger's carry-on bag forced an American Airlines flight to make an emergency landing in Florida
American Airlines flight No. 338 departed from Florida's Miami International Airport on Wednesday evening and returned at around 9 p.m. "due to a chemical odor in the cabin caused by the contents of a customer's carry-on luggage," a spokesperson for the airline told Insider.
In reply to Drapsey
It requires a lot of chemicals to keep those fast foods "fresh".
In reply to Drapsey Missing urine sample

I recall travelling on the plane from the Yard with fellow passengers' fried catch-of-the-day a little (ok, far) more than 'touched'.
Man, was that disgusting.
In reply to RedDuppy
I thought they didn't allow travelling with liquid (in cabin).

99ml?
I know a few Caribbean airports have some interesting landing approach like the one in Canefield, Dominica, the pilot has to head towards the mountains then turn and drop drastically before landing, not for the faint of heart in those smaller planes. Then the airport in USVI makes the passengers feel like they are landing on the sea as the runway extends way out into the sea, which is understandable for they lack land space.
Both in St. Maarten and Sangsters Airport the planes actually land right over the beach.

Yes bro you have to hope and pray that your neighbour's food has aged well.
that runway is a nerve banger....
Will take Melville Hall airport on the other side of he island and take the mountain drive to Roseau.
In reply to johndom90
Melville Hall airport should by now be developed into an International Airport.
In reply to Headley
