Two-time Twenty20 World Cup-winning captain Daren Sammy believes West Indies can produce “something special” at the latest edition of the tournament starting later this month.

Writing in his column for the International Cricket Council, Sammy said the Caribbean side possessed talented combinations both in the batting and bowling departments, which could influence the outcome of games.

“I just spoke to [captain] Nicholas Pooran and he reckons the guys are shaping up well. I have a really good feeling about this squad because we have so much talent,” Sammy indicated.

Kindly note that Sammy never stated that we would win the t20 World Cup. The truth is that we have had matches that we were in a position to win against top opponents. Our biggest problem is rotating the strike and until that problem is rectified, this team will continue to struggle. This is why in one of my previous threads I did not mention who I would choose as a batting coach. The person must be a world class coach, not necessarily a former world class batsman. Oh, the individual must also be able to teach our players how to play spin by moving their feet and getting to the pitch of the ball. All is not lost my fellow posters. We shall rise again, now is not the time to be negative!
