Geoff Boycott said in an ODI because T 20's did not come along as yet that "if you score a single off every ball you will total 300.
That logic WI players, management and coaching staff needs to instill in their players.
i am satisfied we did not qualify. We did not deserve to be in the tournament.
So Mr Adams and co needs to find a coach who can instill a level or two into their charges about the psychology of run scoring and cricket. How to play to win and not for money only.
If they can instill into the players heads that not sixes and fours alone wins matches but "brains" then it is a good start.
An Australian player or coach had said they look for a boundary early in an over to set the tone for the rest of the over.
That is a great example to follow. However if our players goes 2 balls without that boundary then what next/ That is what they do not have and needs to learn how to milk runs and find gaps. Looking forward to a learning curve from both the CWI and players.
If not then I do not look forward to us qualifying for any tournaments or climbing up any ladders in the next few years.

Boycs was an ODI giant, man ahead of his time
We should listen to his advice

I think that you mistake a lack of skill for unwillingness.
Our players generally lack the skill to score at a run a ball
One time I listened to Boycott break down the run chase into such simple steps he made any target seem gettable..I always loveed listening to his stories and application to the game..

You are right, you have to be a complete batsman to be able to work the ball around, calls for lots hard work, skill and fitness, have to be started early in ones carrier, let us do not forget, hitting boundaries has always been a major part of WI cricket
Boycott??
Giving advice on how to score runs in ODIs????
BWDA I reading here?????

Many may mock Boycott!!! taking into consideration his own display in ODI....but that was different era.... fielding, bowling, batting rules..
Be that as it may, taking singles, rotating strike is one of the toughest art of cricket...it's all about technique, wrist, knowing fielding position.....very rare in this era of wild power hitting..

Ability to move feet to spinners can also help
a single off each ball is not going to get you an adequate target in today's game... think for yourselves!

It is a logical approach . A what if moment or comment.
How many times have WI actually scored 300 runs in any competition>
Be it test or ODI?
I believe that Virat is listening to that advice.
Picks the gap, runs hard, rotate the strike and take the consolation boundaries.
Hence his phenomenal average and strike rate.

This is the first basic task of a batsman from pre k to the pro, as a youngster you had to be able to pick the gaps in order to play with the bigger boys.
