About Chase over Cornwall selection.
I remained silent an awaited the ends of their Super50 Cup
Cornwall
5 games
129 runs with a high of 81, avg. 25.80 and rate of 121
6 wickets at 22.00, and econ. of 4.25
Chase
3 games
143 runs with a high of 86* and a rate of 109
7 wickets at 15.57, and econ. of 3.63
There is no recoding of runs saves or sacrifices in fielding.
Let's just say I saw Cornwall in slips...enough said
No need to rub fielding in.
A few months ago, I said here that Chase is our best performing
spinner on the international circuit, save Hosein.
I also said that he should play as the spinner.
People here cussed me.
Selectors picker Permaul and Mottie.
Well we know how those ended.
Now Chase is picked as a spinna, let's see what happens.
BTW: this is in respond to the Cornwall vs Chase talk

The Chase Vs Cornwall Debacle
In reply to TanteMerle
Chase was picked to go on a test tour not a 50 over tour so what you posted is completely IRRELEVANT
WHEEL AND COME AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Thanks

International cricket is the standard bro.
The talk over the selection was about international cricket.
Go back to earlier this year posts.
A few said that Cornwall should be the spinna.
I said Chase.
Permaul and Mootie got the picks.
it's hard to appear prejudice against size etc.. but
International cricket is international cricket.
May here cussed Gayle for his fielding limitations.
In Gayle early years he has a heart murmur etc.
Yet, he fielded good enough, batted great and bowled good.
Why all the fuss about Cornwall.
He has not lit up the stage.
the selectors already gave a reason why they did not choose cornwall and i have no problems with it.i saw cornwall in a 50 overs match recently was fielding at cover and ball was just dabbed past him innocuously to most people it was a comfortable single but cornwall could not even chase down a ball just a few inches in front of him at no great pace a fielder had to come all the way from the boundary to field the ball and the batsmen got two that was so embarassing you could hear people laughing in the crowd through the microphone
spinner on the international circuit, save Hosein.
I also said that he should play as the spinner.
People here cussed me.

Yet he averages over 53 with the ball in his last 8 test matches?

Cornwall looks like he's put on some weight.
If there is anyone on this forum that wants to see Cornwall succeed as a cricketer it is me. I would like to see him put on a program to lose the weight and I know it is possible. There are so many success stories with overweight persons shedding the extra pounds.
Once Jimbo is willing and patient in his quest to do so, it can happen. I applaud the selectors for giving him a chance in the past. However, a professional cricketer must be able to run between the wickets, field in numerous positions and restrict the flow of runs from the opponent.
Chase has become more of a bowling allrounder of late. Chase got the nod on this tour over Cornwall because of his fitness when compared to the latter. What a fit Jimbo is able to do is only anyone's guess. On the international stage it just won't cut it.
In reply to TanteMerle
Chase is my bhai.
In reply to TanteMerle
So you ignore their recent performances in INTERNATIONAL CRICKET and judge them on DOMESTIC CRICKET?
I do not understand!!!!!!!!!

In reply to Dukes
Is tante Merle with her pink parasol in de oval...wuh yuh expect
In reply to Narper
Id that the best that you can do?
Please post related comments.
Your anti-bajan rep is well known.
In reply to Dukes
My point is that Cornwall is not worth the pick.
If he was taking 5 or more wickets per game.
Maybe one can ignore the other limitations.
Bating for him is a swiping thing.
Do you think that he can concentrate and bat as required in tests.
I am sorry that he was not picked for the Ozzie tour.
My Ozzies would like that.
Sledging...Yes.
Licks....yes.
You should thanks the selectors.
After a tour down under, he would have been broken.
In reply to TanteMerle
So is your insular pro bajan rant
And especially your anti Shiv rant
In reply to TanteMerle
call him what he is.
In reply to Narper
I was neva anti-Shiv.
I call a spade a spade.
He was selfish, exposing tailender to overs etc.
He also refused to quit when he was pass sell by date (ODI)
I am proud of his overall stats.
I criticize players from all territories.
I can't stand Carter,
I Couldn't stand Nurse
I always disliked Stoute
I made my feelings known here many times.
My favourite cricketer since coming on dis MB
was Prince Lara, who I defended many times.
I was fond of Lil Prince (Bravo) till he turned foolish,
batting too slow etc.
Chase is one lazy skunt!
In reply to camos
True and Cornwall runs rings around him.
Cornwall lightening quick between wickets,
across the field and at slips if the ball
by chance gets past him or keeper.
Chase is way below Cornwall on and off the field.
I just can't understand the selectors.
Please remember the theme of my tread.
In reply to TanteMerle
that is your take, I had nothing to say about Cornwall!
In reply to TanteMerle
This is not about Cornwall. You made two bold statements
1.Chase should go on a test tour of Australia because he did better than Cornwall in 50 over cricket
2.YOU IMPLIED that INTERNATIONAL CRICKET is all the same whether it be 50 over or test cricket but your underlying argument is based on DOMESTIC cricket.
I merely pointed these flaws out.I was not making a case for Cornwall.
In reply to Dukes
Chase spun a web around England to win a test match and MOM.
His wicket taking ability at test level is superior to Cornwall, Motie etc.
I have never seen Cornwall outperform Chase in head to head match ups in test cricket.
Cornwall bowls too many balls into the body.
Chase does not turn the ball consistently enough.
I think James is potentially better than both.
In reply to Dukes
When the team to Ozz was selected,
the airways, social media and even this rum shop
started Cornwall vs Chase argument.
Also stupid talk about Cornwall being selected and deselected.
Haynes and Adams killed that argument and peeps here went silent.
Like I implied at my initial post,
I awaited their next competition.
that is: this Super 50 competition.
I even alluded to the fact that earlier this year
Some, including me called for Chase to be the selected spinna.
Mootie and Permaul were selected n conversation ended.
There is a lot of talk about Chase versus Cornwall
The arguments for Cornwall is crap.
A better argument should be made for Mootie or Hosein.
Everything here about Bajans is taboo for you and most here.
I live in Bermuda not Bim.
I support Ozzies not Wondies.
I don't give two wuck-ups if Bim win, lose or draw.
I just can't stand the ridiculous arguments here by a group
who I believe has more sense than demonstrated.
Wondies issues goes deeper than the players.
In reply to Baje
Until Wondies get a clue and have a proper first class season
We will never know about James, Piere, Hosein, Chase etc.
Wondies need to get their players playing against outside opposition.
Any spinner get wickets against local here.
In reply to Baje
Who is this James?
In reply to TheTrail
That off spinner from the Leewards
In reply to TanteMerle
What about 2s and 3s available and 1 run taken.
BIG CORN, I am a fan, but you not in internation fighting standard.
Figures for the best "international" spinner in the region against some school boys...
10-1-50-0
World class... plus he made a shot filled 12 with the bat
In reply to Dukes
As much as Chase is my friend and it will be said I am biased.
I do like Cornwall...but
This is Australia and CHASE has an excellent record in TEST CRICKET.
Sadly- Cornwall was going off the boil as the 50 over matches progressed...nuff said.
In reply to powen001
Using your logic
DAREN BRAVO HAS AN EVEN BETTER RECORD IN TEST CRICKET
