not only that, he should be putting up a People Republic of Guyana test team to rival the WI test team.

To further embarrass the WI team?

I think No Amount of cricket within ourselves in our region is going to take us anywhere. Like it happened in the past, may be we should have our potential players exposed to the FC cricket in SA, India, England. That will expose them to new players and different system.
I remember us having such a model a decade ago. Wish it comes back

Away series to Zimbabwe in February might just be.
Gary Ballance amongst the Zimbabwe ranks to add depth to the batting.

or they could play the republic of Titland for more equitable competition

You took the concept right out of my thought process. In my version of the best of 3, 4-day series played over 3 successive weekends, I had the current test team playing the Mercs. That is the white ball players deemed inappropos by CWI who are now seemingly full-time globe trotters. ALL of whom have played first-class cricket.
They would play for a winner take all 2.5M USD. CWI can then if they so please choose the touring squad for the South Africa tests which is their next assignment from the prime performers.
It allows for quite a bit of out-of-the-box thinking by the CWI hierarchy.
My 14 man TRABADOUR MERCENARIES squad: JCharles, AFletcher, ELewis (openers); NPooran, BKing, SHetmyer, RPowell, SRutherford (middle order) OSmith, RShepherd, (all rounders) SCottrell, Hossein, GKMotie, Bullai. Granted the last two aren't pigeonholed as white ballers but I'd give them the run with my group.
Mang't staff: SChanderpaul, CAmbrose, CGayle, DBravo.
Venues: Kensington Oval, Queens Park Oval, Sabina Park
Finer and final details to be worked out going forward!
AGAIN the focus here is on cricketers I deem good enough to play test cricket who for one reason or the other have been shunted off or become disenchanted with CWI.

Just looking at Tagenarine.....it can be settled that we have talents to be best...provided a good coaching system is developed in the regional....a good Head Coach.....a competent batting coach Hooper, Lara or Shiv....there is abundant talent..
Jyd Goolie
Imlach
Wickham
These three future middle order....

Sudden we want competitive cricket ... we would rather play the Bajans than a toothless and useless West Indian side
In reply to anthonyp
Jamaica already outplayed them against Ireland, no further evidence needed.
