This is the game in which Jimmy Adams made his 1st class debut
.and made a good looking 40
I was at the match and was paying special attention to Jimmy because a brethren of mine - now Principal of Jamaica College - Wayne Crimestop Robinson - used to tell me how promising the youngster was
.I hadnt seen him before
.
For some reason in my fuzzy recollection I thought Jimmy had debuted against Windwards
.but the Windwards connection was because earlier that year Derron Dixon (who also made his 1st class debut in that Bim game and made a polished 75)
had destroyed Windwards on his list A debut debut in the GeddesGrant limited overs competition at Alcoa in Clarendon
.i had journeyed down to watch the match
Dixon was swinging the ball like it was a banana on a string
the poor Windwards batters had no clue
Dixon bowled about 7 overs and ended up with figures of 4 wickets for 11 runs
..amazing figures
.
Back to Jimmy and Windwards though
it was this game which was 2 seasons later that a particular stroke by Jimmy. - (the usually sedate Jimmy) stuck in my mind
he played an amazing hook shot off burly Windwards pacer Sidney Murphy that landed out of the park somewhere on South Camp Road
.it was a sight to behold
.
So I made a mistake in thinking that the shot was played in his debut innings
..Its amazing how as you get older your brain has the uncanny ability to merge facts from different events into one

Wayne Lewis wasn't playing yet? Must have been injured or something.

The game I recall (bady) about Jimmy was the year he played for the WI Presidents 11 vs AUS? in St Kitts.
The WI were in their second innings. The score was WI few runs for about 6 wickets trying to save an innings defeat early on the 3rd day with Jimmy Adams at bat. The commies and staff who were able to get earlier flights to leave St. Kitts had already made the changes.
I recall that the next day Adams was still batting.

I believe Wayne Lewis debuted in the 85/86 season..he and Franz Cunningham were the opening pair

Yeah..my aging memory says that Jimmy was still a student at Jamaica College when he made his debut

I think Walsh was quite young as well when he made his debut?
In reply to FanAttick
I was in Jamaica then but did not see his debut match. The next year ( 1986) I saw Patterson terrorize Leeward Islands.

I think both Courtney Walsh and Robert Haynes made their debuts as teenagers.

I was at that match as well .Patto cleaned up Richie Richardson with a full pitched delivery before Richie completed his bat lift
Viv was caught by Walsh for 5 off Patto - after essaying a viscous pull for four over midwicket I and the rest of the crowd on hand were quite vexed because we wanted to see more of Viv
Later that same year Patto terrorized England at Sabina .its the quickest spell of bowling Ive seen to date
Robert Haynes made his debut at 17 years old against Guyana and took the prized wicket of Clive Hubert Lloyd for a duck
In fact Haynes took 11 wickets on debut..5 in the 1st innings and 6 wickets in the 2nd innings
I think I saw Walsh's debut at Bina, can only remember the massive Excelsior crowd that came to the game.
