Those poor displaced people in the camps will become more destitute. Blasted politicians will pay no heed to the suffering.

Sad, I saw a picture of a child covered in the rubble and waiting for help.
I saw a heartwrenching photo of a guy holding the hand of his daughter who was crushed under all the rubble.
What a tragedy.

Death toll up to 11,000+ now
Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings.
"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ, and will deceive many.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
In reply to Overthrowdid they careabout them before the earthquake you think they care now syria is not even a country anymore.

This is very unfortunate but like Haiti, the issue here is the quality of construction. Either the building codes are weak (which would be strange for a region prone to earthquakes) or folks did not adhere to the codes.

Look up; redemption draweth nigh!
When you think it's peace and safety, a sudden destruction!
One man sey rat race!
In reply to WI_cricfan
Nothing deep about that - earthquakes have always been around and droughts, famine, floods, volcanoes, hurricanes, cyclones, storms et al. Its all part of the planets life.
In reply to Chrissy
More significant now in magnitude and devastation - more people - greater impact, more panic and far-reaching effect, but true as long as the earth remaineth we'll always have natural disasters!
Death toll passes 15,000
In reply to WI_cricfan
Did Jesus also predict the destruction and disappearance of the great cities of their era, Alexandria and Philadelphia?
Oops, sorry. I forgot that those cities existed before his lifetime. He must've drawn on that piece of history to help in his prediction for the future.
In reply to Drapsey
He predicted our end if you want to know the truth!
17,000 and counting
In reply to XDFIX
And so have others, before and after 'he'.
In reply to Drapsey
So, let's all resort to the beer-drinking song.

Has anyone checked if NEOM crosses any fault lines?
We have technology now- we should be moving people en masse
In reply to hubert
Above 20 thousand now

An exact death toll proved elusive in the ensuing chaos in Haiti. The Haitian government's official count was more than 300,000, which would make the earthquake's aftermath one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history, but other estimates were considerably smaller. Hundreds of thousands of survivors were displaced.
BTW why are earthquakes not given names a la hurricanes?
In reply to XDFIX
Haiti was horrific
More than 50,000 people are estimated to have been killed. 28,000 official now
In reply to XDFIX
Worldwide there are around 1400 earthquakes each day (500,000 each year). 275 of these can actually be felt.
