Can we call that early rap? Bet you the sideburns is an added dimension for you.
In reply to Brerzerk
It was part of Line dancing, when people attended Socials, Wedding etc.
This maybe the most popular among black Americans.

You know when it took off in DC and Marcia did an interview
it caused a rift between her and Bunny Wailer who wrote it?
He didn't mind her covering his song but when she was asked
how the song came about instead of crediting Bunny she said
'oh it was just the vibes.' When Bunny got upset she returned
to JA and claimed she was trying to reach him because he was
the only one who could rap 'Lil Ms. Kelly with the electric belly sure got the boogie'
Turns out Ms Kelly was actually a teacher at their pre-school.
In an interview, Marcia says as a bigger boy from down the street Bunny
used to walk up to her gate then her parents would send her out for him
to hold her hand as they walked to 'Basi School'
