Fun Fact: Chocolate Milk was invented in Jamaica
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah, used to drink that at a lot in school with the round holsum bun and a slice of cheese squashed in the middle. Funny, I was skinny as hell then if I eat like this now I would become obese

Indeed. Chocolate Milk and Cherry Malt(along with Juciful Orange Juice or Fruit Punch) and Mandevilles Crusty Patties(my all time favorite) sandwiched between CocoBread or freshly baked hot Collins Bakery(Ward Avenue) hardough bread were en vogue in my school days
We would then assemble on the fairways of Manchester Golf Club to partake during our lunchtime
.it was hard to go back to classes after that

To me Hammonds had a better patty than the Leveys.

No way bro. Hammonds Mandeville isnt even in the Top 6
Hammonds Sav-lar-Mar was on par with Tastee(#3) .and just behind Crusty(#1) and Juici(#2) of more recent vintage

The one thing that I give credit to Hammonds Mandeville for was their unique crust (almost white with a distinct flavor) unlike any of the others the crusts of the others were quite similar (though Crusty was the best crust and filling of all)

Met a former banker who said he was sent to manage a branch in Christiana, Manchester. Opened a side hustle selling patties in the town. His head office found out and told him to discontinue the business. The man told them goodbye...he was making more money selling patties than his monthly salary.

.
Not surprising if you find a good patty it will sell like hot bread in the Yard

I remember Professor Errol Miller writing an article in JG using the price of a patty as an economic indicator!
It would be interesting to revisit that article to see where the economy stands!

That would be interesting to see how the purchasing power of the average Yardie has progressed or regressed
