He did an admirable job of getting back at Will Smith.

What I don't get is the extremely bad review by USA Today critic.

In reply to Curtis The first few minutes I did no go for, was a little unnecessarily vulgar even for me. It got progressively better and the ending was just right. He let everyone know that Will had bigger issues to fight, and that the show’s title “Selective Outrage” was an apt one. I plan to watch it again… what was USA bitching about? I didn’t see their review.

I don't know if I'm keen to watch him pick apart Jada all over again. Just seems like another weasel move.
That said I've traditionally liked his comedy; heck I even own a Good Hair DVD.

These comedians need to extricate their heads from their asses.

Most of the show the audience was applauding, not laughing.

If I want a lecture, I'll put on a TED talk.
Aint nothing wrong with highlighting these perceived social ills or the like, but make it funny nah man. That's what you getting paid for.

from the time he went after jada and called her a bitch and made a transgender joke i knew there was going to be backlash cause they are certain groups in america you can't talk about they control the media.it was not his best standup but it was enjoyable

Comedians of note these days have morphed into social commentators. Carlin, in later years, Chapelle, etc.

But the big boss, Richard Pryor was the first to perfect/combine both humor and social commentary, from black perspective.

I find myself appreciating the new paradigm. Don't care for the lewd talk, though, anymore.

In reply to DirtyDan They mentioned on TV that Netflix paid Chris $40 million for the special… Damn Chris, maybe you should ask Will to slap you more often. You guys should make a deal and split the proceeds, since I wouldn’t doubt that $40 mil is your biggest payday. --- not sure what you complaining about – I can just imagine how many ordinary people and some comics are out there saying – come slap me Will – if Netflix would give them $2 million

There is so much to unpack but I'll be brief.
In my honest opinion it was cringe worthy

At times it was downright embarrasing
Lest we forget Rock started this vile brouhaha on Will Smiths biggest night, the night he won an Oscar for his portrayal of another much maligned black man.

Smith never got to enjoy his crowning moment infront of his peers and his family
it was taken away from him, a public lynching of a black career.

Had rock said those comments in a comedy club set we could have accepted it as comic timing

Frankly it appeared personal and tinged
with a touch of jealousy.

I thought the slap was a bitch slap and not that of an angry punch and whilst it was wrong it didnt hurt that much physically
Rock initially handled it well and wisely sought his own council

Rocks career will be remembered for the wrong reason playing the part of a stripey cartoon jackass and being slapped by Will Smith and he knows it
