they neither fish nor fowl, a proper all-rounder should be able to make a test century and take five wickets
Kyle nor Chase can't do that anymore, they might have test hundreds or 5ers, but they have passed their sale-by date.
Time to move on.

Need a 5th option, but I wouldn't play both.

Chase's bowling is fairly innocuous unless conditions favour spin considerably.

Mayers, somehow has a knack of getting wickets.

ever test we play we are giving away the first 2 sessions we give 250 runs free than start bowling or we get bowled out, its hard to recover from first 60 overs of non sensical cricket

Sir Gary was a true allrounder, Kallis was a batting allrounder.
Holder, Chase, Mayers, Reifer, can bowl and bat a little.
I was a jack of all positions, but good at none.

ICC ranking methodology should be disbanded with immediate effect.....for anointing Holder as ICC no.1 all rounder for 2 years....lastly till March 2022... Only second after Sir Gary from West Indies...... totally ignoring, our super talented Mayers along with Chase & Reifer has been not seeded in the ranking unfairly till date despite brilliant performance all around the world....

Our hopes now rest on Mayers and chase. Both bowled well, especially Mayers, and both are batting on 23.

You better hope they score big else we in deep trouble

Chas e bowled decent, didn’t have wickets to show for his efforts but wasn’t bad. Mayers had 3 wickets

They both failed with the bat.

No complains if chase is dropped for the india tests, unless he comes up with something special with either bat or ball (ideally both) in the second innings.

We’ll probably still lose this game

I have been saying that for years, an all rounder is all rounder period and impact the game whether bowling , batting or fielding.
