With SL having an outside chance at a WTC Final berth, playing aggressively is certainly the way to go here.

Asitha Fernando to Conway, out Lbw!! Asitha finally draws first blood! It's been a very tidy spell from the pacer and he has been rewarded for it. Goes full from round the wicket, angling in around off and beats Conway on the drive, sneaking past the inside edge to rap the back leg. A very marginal call and the on-field call is in favour of the bowler. Which turns out to be pivotal, because ball tracking shows the impact to be umpire's call and it's also only clipping the stumps. Which is enough of course in this case for SL and Conway falls. He isn't happy, no batter is when umpire's call happens. But it's a double-edged sword.

Kumara to Williamson, out Caught by Karunaratne!! A massive strike for the Lankans just before tea! A shot so unlike Williamson as he looks to go for the booming cover-drive, it was a half-volley to be fair to him but he didn't really try to keep the shot down. Which isn't his style. With a short cover in place, that's a big risk and Karunaratne pouches a sharp catch. It will indeed be tea! Perfect finish to the session for the visitors.

Southee to Chandimal, out Bowled!! Southee breaks the partnership with a cracker! Bowled a series of outswingers and Chandimal was probably expecting another of those. But this is the in-angler that just holds its line after pitching and he plays down the wrong line to get beaten on the inside edge. Needed something special to end this stand and the NZ skipper has done just that. Chandimal departs but not before producing a handy contribution.

Tickner to Mathews, FOUR, 14th Test ton for Mathews! Top knock from the veteran and the entire dressing room is on its feet to applaud their senior man. Been a chanceless knock and although he has looked awkward at times, has managed to dig in there. Reaches the milestone with a lovely back foot punch through cover. Was a trifle short from Tickner, provided width and Mathews did the rest

Matt Henry to Mathews, out Caught by Blundell!! Matt Henry strikes but it has been a terrific knock from Mathews! He came to bat when SL were in a spot of bother and has played out of his skin to put his side into a strong position. This one is angled in on a length around off and then moves away to catch Mathews off-guard. He pokes at it and gets an outside edge.

Out come the players and umpires. It's bright and sunny out there which is a great sign. We should be having an uninterrupted next few hours. 53 overs does seem a bit too less for the 257 more runs.

P Jayasuriya to Latham, out Bowled!! Chopped on! What a fab bowling change from Karunaratne and SL have been rewarded rather quickly. Jayasuriya gets another one to turn and this is from well outside off, don't think Latham expected this much spin as he hung back to cut through the off-side. Big inside edge and he drags this onto the stumps. He is livid with himself. Latham b P Jayasuriya 24(80) [4s-3]

Kumara to Williamson,
1 run, dropped! It was a great opportunity but it has been missed! Not an easy chance by any means but you got to take those in a must-win game. Length ball outside off, angling in, Williamson gets low in his stance as he looks to carve it away but gets an outside edge. Dickwella dives full length to his right, and gets a glove to it but the ball bursts through. How costly will this prove?
