Chase will come good in the second innings
In reply to WI_cricfan
For this management team, he did enough in the first innings to guarantee selection for the remainder of the year
we need him to come good.
In reply to Brerzerk
True. But no just him. A solid team effort with the bat and ball
In reply to Brerzerk
If after playing 48 Tests, Chase averages a mere 26, it's time to accept that he's one of the main weaknesses in the middle order.
It seems a waste to have Holder at eight, and finishing stranded on 81 not out. It's time to drop Chase, and promote Holder to six, where he can play as a batting allrounder.
That would then allow us to play another specialist bowler.
In reply to Brerzerk
Chase will have to win this match for us if he's to justifyhis retention.

You guys so fickle. Just one test match ago the consensus was that Holder forget how to bat and was approaching tailender status. A couple series ago people were suggesting that Alzarri was now more of an allrounder than Holder. Why not just let the cricket play out. Truth is we probably have the best 11 playing in this match. Sad, but that's the reality.

After Chase made a fighting twenty odd in the first Innings,I made a mental note of it and thought he had done enough to justify his place in the test team and will likely make less than 10 tuns in the second Innings.A substantial score in the second Innings would really shock me
In reply to Logic
I wasn't!
Holder has a Test batting average of 29, which though not great, is better than Chase's 26. Holder's bowling average is similarly 29, which shows he contributes more with the ball than Chase.
I dispute the claim that a batting side with Chase in it is our best 11. I think Roston's race is run.
If we play Holder at six, this could be our XI for the next Test match:
1) Kraigg Brathwaite
2) Tagenarine Chanderpaul
3) Raymon Reifer
4) Jermaine Blackwood
5) Kyle Mayers
6) Jason Holder
7) Joshua da Silva
Alzarri Joseph
9) Kemar Roach
10) Gudakesh Motie
11) Shannon Gabriel/Jayden Seales/Anderson Philip

According to Bajan Logic.
So after Roger Harper and Simmons were forced out we are now learning that there are no better players available? They probably should sue CWI!
In reply to WI_cricfan
You guys are hard to please! The man dismissed Elgar in both innings, yet youre not satisfied!
In reply to WI_cricfan
Bookmarked!
Chase out for a duck.
Time to give Roston his gold watch, and wish him well in his retirement.
Its the end of chase.
In reply to mikesiva
This team does not need incremental change at this time...only bold radical decisions would suffice.
In reply to WI_cricfan
lol, come good with a duck!
In reply to Seechy
Duck number 12 for Chase in Test Cricket.
In reply to Courtesy
Bold, radical decisions only work when you have options. The West Indies don't have many options.
So, we start with batsmen who average in the 30s in Test cricket, and build from there.
I'm not convinced by Reifer yet, but we'll see....
In reply to mikesiva
I'll simply say this: It's been more than 30 years.
Decison makers worth their salt would take the bold and radical approach. Incrementalism has not worked.
CWI has only recently identified 30+ young players.
Chase, what a waste! Smh.
