Nationalism is the #1 reason for the destruction of West Indies Cricket.
It began from the captaincy of Lara vs
Richie Richardson to this date and has
Spiralled down hill. Walsh and Ambrose combo
Was the windies last genuine period among the top ranks.
We have 2 openers that we need to stay with.
Bratwaite is NOT world captain material
Elevate Blackwood to Captain.
Bring in the Region's best #3
# 3 Must be the Best batsman in the region
Period even if he is from St Maarteen
ie NO NATIONALISM and build from there
Blackwood stays at number 4 and Captain
Holder Vice Captain and 4 pace attack stays
Keeper batsman open for full review
And number 5 also open for full review.
Again go to the Best in region regardless of Nationalism a perennial cancer of windies rotten cricket.

What did you say after that?

I agree with the no nationalism concept. What are the credentials of Blackwood as captain??
Captain must come from core of playing 11. Move laterally when your choice doesnt have what it takes and keep moving if need be.
just a point, lots of players improve their game when elevated to captain, that said , I am still comfortable with Paint.
In reply to VIX
1.) Brandon King
2.) Shai Hope
3.) Darren Bravo
4.) Jayden Seales
5.) Alick Athanaze
Stop reading when you suggested Blackwood shoyld be capt.
In reply to Brerzerk
I stopped reading here.
Its a superficial and emotive take when even Bartimaeus lamented about lack of structure, governance and foundation development.
the next couple of rounds of the fc championship will be quite interesting
In reply to velo
Hope and King will be on international duty.
In reply to WICFan opens up chances for some other guys to push their claims to be selected against india
In reply to velo
It does, Bravo and Athanaze in the driving seat at the moment.
I would've liked to have seen the Academy play in this tournament as well, get these young guys playing fc cricket in preparation for hopefully moving into their respective territory sides.
In reply to WICFan
I agree. An Academy and/or Best of the Rest team (perhaps called President's XI) or even a combination. I would also have liked to see a foreign A or B team play in the tournament as used to happen some years ago. Perhaps Ireland or SA or Afghan who are crying out for more international exposure? Can't we get them to pay their way if cost is the issue? Could they even only play at the Headley/Weekes stage of the tournament if otherwise it is too costly? We are in real dire straits and a robust FC competition on decent pitches is one clear way to help us.
In reply to PalsofMine
Our problem is not the number of people we have playing fc cricket, but the quality of those players, we could get 6 international players each season and place them with the 3 teams in the bottom half of the table the previous season.
During this post Ambrose/Walsh era there has been one critical period of regrowth to world class level...that was under Darren Sammy as attacking all rounder and captain. Sammy delivered to the West Indies 2 white ball world championships. The Nationlists despised him w passion and wanted him gone. They got their way .... and here we are.
In reply to lb
Look, I defended Sammy against the nasty voices. Yes we won 2 T20 world titles under his leadership but please do not make a King out of a Capt. It does not wear well and appears to be an overreach

Outlandish claims
Only genuine #3 batsman in region in this current era is an inform Darren Bravo. KC should be groomed to follow.
Had this test series in SA had a still active Darren Sammy Captain and no. 7 for the experimental and Bravo # 3 for the experimental Windies would have had a stronger squad.
Nationalism is West Indies Cricket present active metastatic cancer.
In reply to lb
Are you suggesting we would have beaten SA if we had Bravo batting at #3 and played 10 vs 11?
Wrong thread

What triggered Sammy et al WT20 Champions X 2 premature exit from West Indies international cricket? Keep insults to your 4 fingers pointing back at you in your thoughtful reply.
In reply to lb

In reply to anthonyp

In reply to Dukes
