Please take time and look at the data provided by Keith Holder on the bra website.
I am 4000 miles away, and shake my head when I hear you people say, this player should be selected.
There is not an annual improvement by any of the players, no wonder Dessie was our last great batsman.

Here is McCaskie annual data, he started with the Barbados youth in 2012, he has scored 2 tons in 90 innings.

Springer Primus and Drakes are no slouches with the bat at this level, as in the case of WI WITH NO DOMINANT BATTERS...ALL three would have to play...remember THOSE THREE bringing more batting credentials than the rookies Jonathan Drakes and young Wickham....Wickham however gives you a legspinning option.

The next two guys that should be consider are Smith from YMPC, and Boucher from Carlton.
No player should be selected by solely speculation, looking pretty.
Every time I check a youngster who Seaegg want to be selected, I have to shake my head.
If that player is below par in the Elite division, why should he be selected>
Here is 2023 Elite division stats.

That like the blind leading the blind.
I watched most of the games Barbados A played against Dominica, Bibby's Lane team would beat that present Dominica squad.
Your team would had destroy them. Why are these areas complaining, when there is little development of player, even at the local level.

Long overdue selection. But retrograde step to bring back Carter.

I was surprise to see him back in the squad, but he has regional experience, which will good for the youngsters.
He will be able to assist Dowrich when fielding.

Kid, why bring back Carter when WI so starved for batsmen. Why not give
Rashawn Worrell some experience. He outperformed many in the team already. He was also a medium fast bowler on Barbados U19 team.

This name brand thing continues to stifle the development of young players.

analyst-kid 2023-03-13 16:55:33

In reply to seaegg99

Carter brought back because of the lack of FC experience in the squad with only Dowrich having FC experience.

And a team needs that experience.
seaegg99, name the experience player that is able to teach Worrell?

Rashawn Worrell Barbados Youth 2018 Elite 2 4 0 69 30 17.25 - - 0 0 0 - -

2023 Rashawn Worrell (Carlton) 9 14 3 500 134 45.45 2 1
One good season and he should be selected, no wonder Barbados cricket is so poor.
Lets compare him to this Carlton player

Isn't Shayne Moseley considered an experienced player. Team needs to develop the youth and stop being so conservative. Springer have been in one game out the rest, now three years gone and he was never allowed to establish a settled position. Carter will force another youth to forego another year and come in next year as a rookie again. Lack of foresight.

openning 2023-03-13 18:49:16

Springer played in both game, he just captain a practice match in preparation for the continuation of the 4-day championship.

Looks like selection was based on the recent practice match. Those in Dominica does not seem to be included in the selection process.

Experience is not the number of unproductive years at the regional level.

seaegg99 2023-03-13 20:06:12

So playing almost 40 first class matches, getting 2 Test matches over a 7 year period does not qualify you as experienced. He isn't very good, but the unproductive yet constant selection is on management's incompetence.

tc1 2023-03-13 21:12:14

The youngsters have not made an impact in the BCA, they are not up to Standards. Let hope that Wickham is the exception.

analyst-kid 2023-03-13 21:54:02

In reply to seaegg99

With an avg of 31.39, the stats show we can do without Carter in the FC game at 35 years.

No doubt there are intangibles where his dedication to training, mentoring/coaching to the youngsters and his experience in aiding the captain and overall contribution to team spirit comes into play.

analyst-kid 2023-03-13 22:20:57

Barbados vs Leewards coming up.

This is a weak Barbados batting lineup hoping the openers can come good and heavily dependent on the middle order of Dowrich Springer and Primus (Dowrich and Springer put on a 175 run partnership against this same attack last year.)against Big Corn,Louis and co.

The Leewards is considerably weakened by the absence of Thomas their leading batsman and Joseph....Carty however has a point to prove. The Barbados bowling looks strong and Simmons Primus and Drakes will have to show what international exposure has done for them. The main man to me is spinner Comarie Boyce who took eight wickets last time he played against the Leewards and must be fancying his chances if given the opportunity against them at QPO.

openning 2023-03-13 23:09:03

Barbados A team that toured Dominica played in the Legend series, but was not part of the 13th man squad for the first two games, Primus was in Australia, and Jordan is on his way home from South Africa.
Dominic Drakes, Simmons, Primus and Carter replaced, Harding, Jordan, Kirton and Brooks.
Carter replaced Brooks.

I think they have to really develop McAllister. He is energetic, and surprisingly accurate for the pace he is bowling at. Watching the two games the Bajan Captains (Dowrich & KB) are very conservative fellows. They do not know how to put pressure on a batsman. They do nothing to help a young fast bowler. I hope with Simmons & McAllister the capt. put men under the batsmen and pressure them. Wish we had the youngster who went to England to add with these two.

To me right now winning isn't everything because if you can really develop a team of good young players the winning would come. Someone have to at some point teach these guys the game. They seems to be no critical thinking on the field or in the locker room. The mental aspect is failing the WI all over. A fellows don't understand the flow of the game and how you influence the game. Looks like they love that long walk back to sitting down. Maybe the sun just too hot for them.

The biggest problem within the team is the lack of solid players, players that are taking control of their batting or bowling at the international level.
The blind is leading the blind at all level of cricket in Barbados.
We need that type of experience player that can assist the captain, or given the opportunity to speak to each other on the field.
Harding bowling was the worse I have seen by any regional bowler, he was unprepared for the tournament, and yet was selected.
It was totally embarrassing.
RODERICK ESTIWCK rejoin the coaching staff at the BCA, McAllister and Simmons should be in his care.

Seems a really unfortunate situation for Jordan. Pulled away only to ride bench and the result is another missed match on the other end and valuable experience.

There was a lifetime of experience gained from that short tour, more than would be gained from the few matches miss in the regional tournament
Wes Hall went to England in 1975, missed all 5 test, but was able to play in most of the county matches, in returning to Barbados, his first local match, most of fans attended, the rest is history.
I waas at that match, not even a teenager, short could not see, I refused to go the next two Saturdays because of the crowd.

Fair enough and you're right there's still knowledge to be gleaned from rubbing shoulders with the guys with Test caps as well as the opposition players even if you're not out in the middle.

He is ok but I would rather see Corey Collymore working with the young fast bowlers. Tino is a head case but he is one of
the last fast bowlers with mentality needed. Destructive mentality sadly missing for years now. Fast bowlers now are so buddy buddy.
