I like the bowling action of Chaim Holder. Is he one that we should be considering to partner Motie?

analyst-kid 2023-03-22 20:16:00

This boy McAlister in his debut season already has the same consistent line and length with pace that Ambrose and Walsh had mastered....no wonder he heeps the batsmen quiet and his bowling is economical.

analyst-kid 2023-03-22 20:24:40

A short ball by McAlister but coming at pace at the batsman's head....he took his eye off, swivelled and connected and the wicketkeeper ran across to take a simple catch.

You would not say that had you been watching the last there matches, he is as green as a green Golden Apple.
He was all over the shop, yes he has pace by he need plenty help.
Jordan is the bowler that is fit, accurate , can swing the ball, and want to bowl all day.

..but Drakes is a top bowling coach with Ntini as one of his successes.

Estwick around there too so these young fast bowlers have some good bowling coaches...I'm sorry Emerson Trotman has retired from the Barbados setup...a good batting coach..him and Foaud Bacchus put-on a 140 run opening partnership for the WI rebels in the fourth "test" match vs SA in 1984 to win the series against SA in SA 2-1

I don't think we are discussion the same, because what the world saw of McAlister, is much different from what you are saying.
Because this is not true.

This boy McAlister in his debut season already has the same consistent line and length with pace that Ambrose and Walsh had mastered

Ambrose and Walsh mastered line, length and consistency. McAlister is a genius, he in his first year master it already.

McAlister been on target more than the so called established bowlers. This is his first year at this level and you can see the young player making adjustments as he go. That is something the 30 something professional players representing the WI cannot seem to grasp.

Drakes been around for a bit now you can see Big Mac is still the capt's first call to break a partnership. Just watch the youngman develop. Like Sudden says "I got a lot of time for McAlister". Will say this on Jordan. He swings the new ball but seems toothless once some of the shine is off. McAlister, as the TNT batters are finding out, can still crank it up with the old ball and cause problems because the youngman seems to be more accurate than we would expect.

Did you see him bowled, and listen to the commentators, or you going show me stats that I have already seen?
He bowls in four over spells, why? because as I said he is green, balls all over the shop, with a couple of good deliveries per over.
Now compare him to Jordan whose opening spell was close to 10 overs, I believe he never had time after lunch to recover from the first spell, but he bowled 7 overs in that second spell.
Jordan seem to be as fit as a fiddle, this is the second match, that he don't seem to want to put the ball down.

Have seen him bowl in person as well as watch the matches this year. Actually I even wanted him included in the team since last year because of his ability to attack the batsmen. Bim though always looks to the name first and he didn't have the name to make the team. Maybe he wasn't ready last year.

How can you compare him to Jordan a seasoned player. They have different parts to play on the team. One tries to constantly hit a length at medium pace while another tries to bowl fast and really exert himself. What I am seeing is a young, inexperienced player growing into the work he is asked to do and doing it well. If you can't see the young man getting better then there is not much I can say to you.

Mohan looks a very solid opener, played the fast men with confidence and was given caught in the slips,it didn't look clean and Mohan showed some doubt about the catch.I hope to see more of him.Jangoo also looked solid for about 6 or 7 overs,he went for a pull off a short that didn't get up and it got the edge of his bat and hit him on some part of the elbow,I'm sure he'll be out for a while and not bat again.

I am saying he is at the beginning of the learning curve, the stats say he has played 3 games, Jordan 5 games, Jordan is able to bowl more accurately than him at this time.
He has been in the BCA system for more than 6 years, including his school days.

Why is it taking so long for coaches in the Island to see these gems and work with them, we just saw Harding so unprepared for a tournament, which is so sad.

velo 2023-03-23 14:40:29

there is no way warrican should have played in this match in place of drakes they should have gone for the three prong fast bowling attack with primus and holder as back up

Discourse 2023-03-23 14:48:30

In reply to granite

Regarding Jangoo’s blow and considering he may not bat again. Shouldn’t a replacement batter be assigned his position since the objective of the tourney, apart from winning, is to identify upcoming players. As unfortunate as it is, it may very well expose a talent somewhere.

I agree that Jangoo and Imlach are probably the two keeper/batsmen that e should be considering for A Teams. Although we are seeing some middle order guys make some runs, no openers have stood out for any team

Unless you are having a season like Athanaze or Bravo, it is going to be hard to select from players after only five games.
It is tough for the players, having two games, then a break, another three, than a break then a short 2-3 game series.
It must be hard on the players to prepare for a series like this

Tough dismissal for Jason Mohammed.

analyst-kid 2023-03-24 16:21:50

This is the first time in regional cricket history that I have seen Barbados withholding effective fastbowlers from performing...Barbados had four and five prongs Hall Holder Boyce Shepherd and Sobers before WI ever thought of bringing them ( wasnt Hall Griffith Sobers and White in 1965 a four prong or Sobers bowled spin?).

Why is Barbados denying Drakes and Simmons a play? This is unprecendented.

I was hesitant on calling out the youngsters but they deserved a chance....I don't think they are better batsmen than the all-rounders Springer and Drakes nor the wkpr playing for the Windwards Tevin Walcott.
