I thought Fahnbullah runs for Liberia. Did he switch allegiance?
In reply to beesis
Corrected!
Flags look too much alike.
Because I've watched him in the NCAA, I keep thinking of him as running for the US.

He is an American by birth but chose to rep his mother's homeland
In reply to Headley
Unfortunately not good enough. A long but pretty average career.
Had Sherika and Novlene not ran out of their skin she'd have cost
us that 4x4 WC gold.
In reply to mikesiva
Wow. Great time by Sha'Carri Richardson!
In reply to nitro
I just got time to watch it and it was a fantastic run. She has proven that she can come from behind, hold her for and do sub 10.8.
She passed Shricka and won GOING AWAY yet very relaxed! Chrissy predicted she'd have a good season
In reply to Brerzerk
I agree. Stephanie's last good year was 2 years ago when it seemed she was making a rebound. She ran a lot of 200m races in her preparation then and I keep wondering why she has not continued to do so. I am no coach but it is obvious to me that at the end of her races she has no lift her legs are dragging.
In reply to mikesiva
We did not have one male rep at Doha. I hope this year is the year when the men make the turn around.
In reply to nitro
Good time.

I think we are witnessing the end of Yohan Blake. I would be shocked if he makes the top 3 at trials. From 40 to 80 meters he no longer has it.

Meanwhile 21 year old Julia Alfred is smashing the NCAA Championship with 10.72 100M win and just did the 200M win in 21.72 she also anchored Texas 100M relay win with a record time
In reply to Scar
Julien is the read deal. Triple Crown winner.
Did you see Rhasidat Adeleke, the 20 year old running her 1st full year at the 400m level, beat favorite Britton Wilson in the 400m Final? She ran 49.20!
Yeah! The 400m is going to be some list of competitive races from now through Olympics with her, apaulino and Sydney if they all remain healthy.
In reply to Scar
really? she runs the first leg. Kevona Davis is the anchor. and they didnt break the record in the finals. Apart from that you are accurate

So Blake dun! Dun, dun???
In reply to DukeStreet
what's your take on Ackera's win in the women's 100h burdles?
nice win. she handled the pressure well and didn't clobber any of the hurdles. 12.25 is no joke, whatever the wind is.
In reply to rudebway
Agreed 100%. I was also extremely impressed with Phillip Lemonious win in the men's 110m hurdles. The guy hit/knocked down all the hurdles but yet was strong and fast enough to power in for a very good win. Major big ups for him.

The WR and the manner in which they're won. Surely, there've been distant runners who lasted long enough to garner
3 ea of those titles. If she even at this stage of her life can win 3 considering she won't be getting any relay medals
then she'd be right up there with the big man.

Hansle Parchment...like Kirani. Old man river

21yr. Too early to say. Can go any direction (Watson). MVP no? Dem men get lemons and make great lemonade. I feel sad everything I see Yohan Blake now
In reply to rudebway
Excellent!
I only need to add to that:
Women's 400m
1) Mari Paulino (DR) 49.36
2) Candice McLeod (Jca) 50.19
4) Sada Williams (Bdos) 50.95
In reply to rudebway
Too early on Watson. Quite young and will tell next year.
Thompson looks the real deal and may jump to top of entire new group, Oblique included.
Hansle pulled another one on Grant. He and Rasheed have made Grant pay in later parts of race.
Candace was a disappointment this year after showing big improvement last year.
Elaine. Wait and see.
In reply to RoyalDad
man.. where were you during the WC? i noted you and Headley didnt post on the thread. were u in Budapest living it up? you guys know your stuff so surprised u werent posting. Pinnock was awesome but bad luck for Hibbert who i expect gold from next year. i think we agree on Kishane. Now he looks like a 4x1 anchor!
Btw took me a second to realize Ryiem Forde was Ryiem Robertson from JC. lol
In reply to rudebway
Sorry for the no show. Was actually keeping track but could not respond to comments.
Pinnock,Headley and myself attended same school. He has turned into a monster in the jumps.
Bad luck indeed for Hibbert. Regroup next year.
I am not familiar with Ryiem,Watson,Thompson. They just came out of the blue. However, they are a bright spot for the sprints come next year along with Oblique,Blake.Thompson especially.
One last big meet coming this weekend. Will check in.

It shows the great 'eye' for talent in The Yard (especially Franno...se Elaine)
If only 'di cricket' had the same and then the room for the growth.
In reply to mikesiva
Looking for Elaine to win again.Good confidence booster the past two races. Hope she does not try to force herself into getting a fast time.Just run her race.
Jacko .What can I say.
Sada feeling the effects of the WC.McLeod possibly on the rebound. Was expecting more of her this year.
These three benefitting from absence of Sydney. But Femke is on a roll.
Too bad they missed a medal...Ricketts and Williams.
Wow!Hickling was right there until the Aussies took her out.
Danielle should do well here.
Big Boy Mc. I need to see him through the year. He seems to be on a rebound, but he has disappointed too many times.Holding my breath.
In reply to Brerzerk
Overall was surprised at the talent that showed up at Ja trials.Someone said at least 10-15 men have run under 10 seconds this year.Dont know how true that is but can account for some.
Bwoy the cricket in bad shape.Dont understand it though. Big money being tossed around, and they can't capitalize with the talent throughout the region.Went to same school as Holding,Samuels, and Walsh lived 5 minutes from my house.
In reply to RoyalDad
Haha yuh is not just a KC but a Melbourne man eh
By the way I saw an interview with Antonio Watson and suddenly seeing him in studio he seemed bigger and reminded me of Arthur Wint. Not such a giant but he just reminded me of him in that moment.
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes.Melbourne it is.
Antonio. What can I say. Man did good.Had the talent from champs days and it blossomed at WC.Since Bert,no Jamaican can claim the top spot. Hope Bloomfield,Allen and Taylor rebound for next year. With this much,we will be able to dethrone.

Class is permanent. Me just sitting here laughing at the folks who kept harping that she ran 11.06 at trials
In reply to rudebway
We gave the Americans a free world championship 4x100 relay gold medal!
In reply to FanAttick
Yes. We know that and the BOZO who caused that will remain free and clear
Some of you and of an even younger generation should return to the Yard and influence things.
In reply to FanAttick
They made two mistakes in that relay not one.
Brianna's first 30m are fast so she'd prssure
1st leg to go out fast and knowing Murca baton
coulda get messy. Plus, coulda exchange nearer
in the zone so that Elaine duh more distance than Brianna
yet still hand over earlier to a Shelly that's
faster than Sasha cutting Murca's 3rd leg advantage.
Still not sure if Shacarri could've been held off though.
Her split kinda looked like her 10.65 100m gold run.
In reply to mikesiva
Satisfactory performance by athletes especially Elaine, Jacko and Natasha.
Jacko on a mission and next week may be the time to quash Flo's record. That track is notoriously fast.
Elaine is steadily coming into the 10.7 realm. She may not be in Eugene as she is the #9 ranked now so she is out of a spot in the final. Someone has to drop out. She looks good though.
Natasha is surprising everyone. She has dropped below 11 several times this year and expectations of her are now coming to fruition even at 30.
Candace? Enigma!!
400 hurdlers did their best.Femke too tough and only Sydney can challenge.
Sada done for season???
Don't know what's going on with Dina. Maybe a little wash off in Ja could do it.( hehe ).
Next week is final week.Looking forward to it.
In reply to RoyalDad
she needs to get it next week. she is in the best shape of her life, so strike while the iron is hot. Today, she flew past Neita like Neita was a class 3 athlete. A bit of wind on the fast track in Eugene might get her there.
Once Elaine lifted her head, the smooth strides of old were there. i expect to see her in Eugene.
I think Dina is still being bothered by niggles. I'm looking forward to Sherika trying the 400 in '25-26 or so. Who van remember her split on rhe 2nd leg of that 4x4 we won? Commie said "inexperience, went out too fast" then had to eat his words
In reply to rudebway
Agree on all points.
Elaine is indeed a smooth operator.

If you are a Track and Field fan, the worst place to watch coverage is in the USA.

Shericka 21.57
In reply to FanAttick
You could see that she didnt have the world record in her legs today. She ran the 100 yesterday. Fantastic run by ms Jackson. From champs days she was in another league.
Those flo Jo records are something else
In reply to FanAttick
Nice run but you could see she needed a little wind push..tired legs after a long and VERY successful season.
Let's hope we are all here for Paris next Summer. It could be a banner year for Track and Field.
A lot of young ones are doing well and alongside the established and a little more mature great ones,
Paris will be more than worth a Ticket.
That's my hope and I would like to see ETH on top of her game again and injury free.Shericka will certainly
challenge the WR if she keeps healthy and the JA Trials could provide a WR. I wonder ???? I dream sometimes.
Would be nice.

The one i had high hope for was Brianna Lyston
I wish she had remained in jamaica, she seemed to be burning out on the USA College hectic season

Appreciate it. It's been a good year all round not only for our Jamaica athletes but for
other Regional ones as well.
May it continue and grow as the little steps are positive.
In reply to mikesiva
Jamaicans did well overall.
Parchment win was just splendid. Grant has been suspect all along.
Gayle coming off injury but still managed to secure medal.
