Cricket West Indies has moved to settle their legal dispute with former selectors Courtney Browne and Eldine Baptiste, cricket commentator and broadcaster Andrew Mason is reporting.

The two former West Indies players received letters of termination on April 10, 2019, shortly after Ricky Skerritt and Dr Kishore Shallow won the Cricket West Indies presidential elections in March that year. The termination letters made reference to a task force that was being established to review the selection system. The task force that was chaired by CWI Vice President Dr Kishore Shallow was expected to make recommendations.

Notwithstanding that the task force had not yet met, CWI fired the selectors ahead any recommendations that would have come from the task force.

Vasbert did manage to lose a case against CWI.

It is alleged Vassie had formed some expectations based on a promise from a coach. lol

Let me hear your views of the team?

This three match series as selected from permanence this year, not years performance, that's the way I see it.
You cannot ignore performance from the last A team and the previous year 4-day series.
If you are one of the fans that think young players like Tage, Motie, Athanaze and Jordan should not be selected, you have not been around players that understand the learning curve.
These guys are in the infantry of the international game,
From Kraig downward could benefit from this A team series, that's where our cricket is at.
Thats the way I see it.

“You cannot ignore performance from the last A team and the previous year 4-day series”.

The selection of the A team once again proves CWI is full of shit and selectors like Desmond Haynes was put there to finish with cricket. Desmond Haynes has said team selection is based on performance but he should have qualified that by saying performance is based on where one is from. Example Kavin Hudge was the 4th leading scorer in the four day competition and in the tri series he got 67 and got some wickets. Why was he not picked instead of Raymond Riefer, the big failure? Haynes is the worse we have had

Another question I have is, why is Joshua Da Silva chosen as captain ahead of Alick Athanaze? Because he is from Trinidad? Definitely not on the basis of performance. Da Silva doesn’t captain Trinidad whereas Alick Athanaze captained the Windwards for the first time and we saw nothing but a gifted leader. He took the Windwards within the championship and was top batsman in the entire 4 day competition. He was chosen as captain of team Weeks and Joshua Da Silva captained the Headley team in the just concluded tri series. No doubt Joshua Da Silva”s team was the best on paper but his team badly lost both games and in a direct matchup against Athanaze his team was beaten by 8 wickets. So on what basis was he picked as captain? He sired showed he has no leadership skills for now or future

those questions point to the sort of "process oriented" things of which i speak

who can tell what the A team was picked for?

doosra May 6, 2023, 12:48:32 PM

you need process to develop things

why all this focus on who is captain, at the end of the assignment the captain need runs to be on the west indies team?

Sylobaby May 7, 2023, 8:22:00 PM

Who is captain is very important. One can get runs and that doesn’t make them a good captain. Arthanaze got runs and showed he is a natural gift that selectors should be thinking of not just as top order batsman but future captain. It is clear that Joshua Da Silva is not a good captain even if he got a century in the tri series. In fact he got a century but lost the game. It is clear that selectors are pushing to make Joshua Da Silva captain though his track record of captain is very dismal. If Arthanaze was from Barbados, Trinidad, maybe Jamaica or even Antigua they would be rushing to prepare him as a future captain
