Sammy's checklist: get Russell, Narine, Hetmyer back and rise in
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
He can probably get Nicky Pooran
Btw, is Jason in the squad?
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
So if we dont become an elite team within the next two years, its Sammys fault?
In reply to Walco
Bro, everything, according to some, is Sammy's fault.
I like the mindset, if he can fix the team by making it into an excellent product, I would argue the boyz could easily become multi-millionaires!
Make Windies great again, the product will be in high demand!
Looks like he wants to drive forward while still looking in the rearview mirror ... hope he doesn't crash and burn
In reply to Kay
Cant know where you going if you dont know where you come from.
In reply to tops
Not a wise approach in my opinion. Sammy is setting himself up for failure.
In reply to Kay
So you think it would ba a mistake to bring Hetty, Russell and Narine back into the West Indies team???
In reply to Walco
"Not a wise approach in my opinion. Sammy is setting himself up for failure."
Might B so, but I am willing to let him have a go if he can get WI into the WC.
But as I say, if he does, it will B the WI players, according to some, and if WI don't qualify, it will B Sammy's fault.
In reply to tops
You well taking in front.
Conversely for you, cheeks, vor and other Sammy super supporters, if the team does well, it will be all because of Sammy, and if the team fails, it will be the players.
Nuh true?
Russel dun
In reply to imusic
If WI doesn't make it to the WC will YOU blame Sammy?
Looks like Sammy is willing to do what must be done to prevent another humiliating early exodus of West Indies from the tournament, by reintroducing experienced players, every other team utilizing their experienced players. So how are we expected to beat them with young, inexperienced players?
In reply to Slipfeeler
Have we ever tried this before?
In reply to sudden
The Geriatrics Redux 2.0. Russell struggles to bowl 4 overs in the IPL without breaking down, and Slippy wants to bring him back to bowl 10 overs in ODIs.
In reply to tops
I am a Sammy fan and I will be rooting for him to succeed. But he needs to be a bit more cautious with his words. A seasoned ambassador once told me the a good diplomat thinks twice before saying nothing.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Sammy seems to be reading Haynes playbook, which will probably be their both demise.
In reply to Walco
But he needs to be a bit more cautious with his words
I totally agree. Do what you have to Do without the public grandstanding
In reply to sudden
Lets face facts, the current selected players are incapable of winning the tournament, in fact we would be lucky if we actually make it out of the preliminary rounds, remember we have been there before when we were humiliated by two minnows. Now you guys are expecting this same weak team to win T20? We cannot follow the same set of procedures and expect a different result. We need our experience players. And remember that I am not a Sammy fan, I am the one who always reminding everyone about his 23.0 lifetime batting average but he is making some sense here.
Is sammy a selector
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
What about DJ Bravo?
In reply to Slipfeeler
Answer the question please.
Have we ever tried this before?
In reply to sudden
Did these vets not failed at the last WC?
Better for him to get the Icon and RTN, the two main players that won him a championship
In reply to Slipfeeler
I thought Windies sent seasoned players to the last World Cup! It's best to lose with the more youthful players!
Sammy relax... Wtf you doing with washed up Russell and Narine?
We went down this route already... With Pollard and his old friends... How did they do in that WC?
Agree with getting Hety back in the mix... But he is better off trying to get guys like Allen and Rutherford in... Not Russell and Narine.
In reply to imusic
"Conversely for you, cheeks, vor and other Sammy super supporters, if the team does well, it will be all because of Sammy, and if the team fails, it will be the players.
Nuh true?"
No. For me, I give credit when deserve.
And for WI cricket, I hope Sammy is successful.
Russell and Narine are done.
Agree with Hety and the rest, as long as they show full commitment to our cricket
In reply to Brerzerk
Strawman ALERT!!!!
When have you seen me blame players for anything on the field of play bro? I have voiced issues I have taken with off field behavior and utterings.
I actually feel vindicated by most of them actually, because I've been here long enough to see previous enablers cry out in consternation when certain behaviors took their natural progression into more egregious manifestations. Nuff said. You hold long standing grudges and expend nuff emotional capital for players even after they have retired, poor Shiv AND Sammy.....I eh the same.
Russell? Narain?
Sammy start off on wrong foot.
In reply to Curtis
Man looking for a win by any means necessary! Russell has already made his contribution!
Narine must prove himself against the young turks!
In reply to Cheeks
Cheeks, bcs we R willing to give someone a go at coach/trajectory, of the WI team, we R being vilified. I just hope Sammy is successful and the WI team.
I don't know Sammy nor do I have anything to eat a food, but I just hope WI cricket can B successful with him as their coach.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Sammy doing what Ice cream man did and failed.....same policy continues..... Russell , failed in all ICC tournaments...may be released by KKR next season...Narine last played international cricket for West Indies... several years ago...Ice cream man called him... Narine refused....in recent IPL, umpires raised doubts about legality of his bowling action...thereafter, his performance was abysmal... might be released too...all said and done, in T-20..... with ODI qualifiers just few days away... Sammy wants these players to bowl 10 overs and stay in the field entire duration of match.... Sammy, doesn't have any idea about ODI coaching...God save West Indies cricket
In reply to Onionman0
You come across like a man with an ..ahem....vested interest. Just saying.
Sammy playing you guys like a tune...and a very bad one at that....
While Sammy is at it, he should consider bringing back Chris Gayle and Brian Lara.
In reply to Cheeks
My only interest is West Indies cricket!
Just refute what I have stated hereinabove with facts... Sammy was a good man manager, who could manage temperamental players like Gayle, Samuel, Bravo, Pollard et al.....that said in T-20 only....
In ODI... Sammy as Captain and player was very poor despite having a comparatively good team. Moreover, Sammy has no experience or credentials as ODI coach...he has coached few T-20 teams... nothing at international or first class level.
Strangely, posters, who was critical of CWI in recent past ..about structure and transparency....have come out in full support of this Sammy appointment....which is totally an opaque process, with no details about the procedure or applicants or process....those posters have vested interest for their support....
Sammy has my support-
BUT
I would like to hear his REASONING behind going for those players who show an uncanny ability to perform for everyone most of the time EXCEPT the West Indies.
In other words- in the absence of evidence and the risk of upsetting the current gelling -
Pourquoi mon frere?
Help me to understand.
In reply to powen001
Hey, short in stature..think about it...
Sammy of all people should know why Narine not even walking near an ICC regulated event..this not new and won't change.
Sammy of all people should know why Hetmeyer can't and not willing to catch a flight, even if its taking off from his driveway
Sammy of all people should know that Russell...well, lets leave that one alone.
Sammy in the same circles as these players, both as a player and commentator and should know the real deal.....
So, this must be some kind of PR stunt, just to say he tried.
In reply to carl0002
Good anecdotal evidence.
and by that post you also ascribe sheer genius to the man who has overachieved; which kind of makes one think even more...
that there is something about Darren Sammy
The West indies ticks have entitlement fever

Where you learn French, at school , or from the girl you stole from the girth.

In reply to tc1
fluent since 17...French Canadian blond...taught me the french tongue...literally...and I was highly motivated to please her
spent that same summer in Martinique where I was buried in the culture...had my first dream in French in Martinique...
practice as often as I can...and will switch a DVD to french dialogue to stop from getting rusty
What is instructive about our collective posts is how some of us who RIGHTFULLY supported the PLAYERS back then...
are willing NOW to call them out for the ENTITLEMENT with piss poor Return on Investment ( ROI) to show for it.
thats growth ent?
In reply to powen001
Sammy's checklist: get Russell, Narine, Hetmyer, back and level 3 certification.
In reply to InHindsight
Who did you blame these last outings?
In reply to Onionman0
Simple.
In reply to Onionman0
Why would a team release the player with the best economy rate and the 2nd highest wicket taker on the team for the 2023 IPL tournament?
Abysmal you say?

In reply to Headley
What about DJ Bravo
Should definitely be a mentor for T20 bowlers.
Obed Mc Coy can serious benefit hugely from DJ Bravo
