LEADERSHIP

Dukes 2023-05-29 17:55:39

At the end of the day you can get all kind of certificates and training but if you are of low/bad character you will not be a good leader.
What do I mean by character?
To me if you always put the organization above yourself that is good character.
If you are honest in terms of ensuring that whatever you do is always in the best interest of the organization, that is good character
If you seek to consolidate your power by putting sycophants in key positions that shows you are of low/bad character

Feel free to expand, agree, disagree etc etc

I am concerned with the current CWI leadership if recent reports prove correct
One of the sad aspects of Caribbean life today is the paucity of good leaders.

Oh well........

i agree with you....but cwi's leadership has only had one or two good leaders. we were fortunate that the denominators(better pitches, more focused players, county cricket, world series cricket and a regional culture that was left to germinate on its own) were able to cancel out extremely poor leadership. At the turn of the last century and the beginning of this one, those denominators were lost.

SYSTEMS (and institutions) that prevent POOR LEADERSHIP from FCUKING UP THINGS TOTALLY

But recently, these institutions and systems have been significantly strained and time will tell if these guardrails can last.

Our region's problem has its genesis by the political system that was framed by the elite and minority Afro Saxons during our independence movement. These Afro Saxons had strong meaning to the WEST INDIES CRICKET BOARD OF CONTROL- this was not an accidental name, they were never about governance, they did not know how to govern, CONTROL of the players is what their end game was.

Was this the only cricketing board that had control in its name?

No, if the VP is a craven sycophant who himself is looking for a way to get to the top position then he consolidates the the crumminees Dukes speaks of.
We all saw on tape Newdread put Cameron under heavy manners when he tried to screw Shiv by bundling him into the Gayle issue. All this to further Hunte/Hilaire's agenda..."consistent with the policy to expose young players Gayle, Sarwan, Chanderpaul were not selected"
