Answer: When it's pyrric.
We canot bowl out a piss poor side. This West Indies side is not a thinking cricket team. We simply don't think thru our cricket or alternatively we lack the ability to think.
Caribbean fans, prepare for the worst.
Bolls, wha you say?

Nerves?? Sometimes its tougher to play games you're 'supposed' to dominate? Me eh know.
In reply to Cheeks
You say nerves...I say we are headless.
We have shown time and time again that we don't think cricket.
A few glaring examples:
Charles getting out when he should have reassessed the situtaion after Hope's dismissal
Rovman Powell...what can I say?
Mayers as a swing bowler decides to bowl bouncers and relatively short early in his spell on a good track
Holder still cannot finish an over... always allowing a boundary ball.
Chase still does know where to pitch his off spinners
Aljo bowling the most predictable ball after he hit a batsman with the short ball
Pooran only knows one gear.

Take a bow Akeal Housien.

Courts, this was a disgraceful performance by the West Indies. Winning by 39 runs against the USA is embarrassing. Look at Zimbabwe, they chased down 291 runs, lost two wickets and did so with just under 6 overs to spare. That is how you beat a minnow.

The wicket was challenging when we batted. By the time USA batted it was a feathered.
Pooran and Powell knew that we needed a bigger total.
I think Hope and Charles should open if we have to bat first. Powell needs to bat before Chase.
Shepherd is needed at the backend. Just not sure who to omit.

By the way, learn to spell if you are going to use big words, it is 'pyrrhic' bro .

How long have we been headless?

Thanks, but I suspect based on my interactions with you here that you think that I am infallibe.
First of all, we taking the Win. Yes, the performance was not impressive with either bat or ball but I think we must remember that a lot of these guys have not played together for a while so they will need a game or two to gel. It would have been interesting to see if Cariah could have made an impact. This team included 2 players that I did not have on my team in Charles and Holder and both did well. I think that if Charles is playing, he must open. Chase takes on the batting role of a Brooks or Carty but we need to make room for Shepherd towards the end of the innings and really it is Powell that he may need to replace if Mayers is going to be allowed to get in early overs (which I also agree with). Aljo was rusty which is understandable but apart from that the bowling was as expected. I give an overall B for both batting and bowling in this match.

, not quite. In all seriousness though, that was very disappointing from our team. If USA didn't drop 4 catches, they could easily have won that.
In reply to Windiesfan78
If Powell did not drop Gaja Singh we would have bowled out USA for spit.
I have always stayed away from introducing hypotheticals in sports. What about you?
In reply to PalsofMine
Zimbabwe will gladly take it as well.
Zim - 2 (0.789)
WI - 2 (0.780)
USA - 0
Nepal - 0
We were lucky that USA dropped some important catches. There were 4 important catches,Hope,Charles,Holder, can't remember the other one but all were on small scores at the time.
When a victory is not a victory
I saw the headline and thought the answer would be
When Sammy is coach
Another victim thread
So pleasantly surprised it wasnt

You wouldn't recognize your face from your bottom, muchless the subtleties and the fly catching intentions of this thread. This is not surprising.
I hereby release you...
Charles got dropped twice.
Holder once
Chase once
From here on, Zimbabwe, Nepal, and the Netherlands will not be a pushover.
WI had lady luck in their corner today.

When Sammy is coach
If Simmonds was coach would you feel the same?
Music Courtesy, Sammy and I are of the same ilk so I answer
Maybe unlike you not everyone suffers from "identity" issues meaning we supported Simonds as coach as long as he brought results

In reply to Courtesy
I will always use 'if' because it shows what could have happened. As others mentioned on this thread, catches were dropped, much easier than the one Powell didn't grasp. After what I saw today, I am nervous about our team's chances of qualifying.
In reply to Windiesfan78
You notice that in favorable bowling conditions Nepal scored 290 and that Zimbabwe chased the runs down in favorable batting conditions...right?

Where is the thumbs up emoji?

Go right ahead and use your "what ifs" when discussing sports.
At least a bit embarrassing but could've been much worse! Some yrs ago a then Rookie Corey Anderson took a 36 ball ton off a 'better' WI bowling attack. He could've been in this US team.
In reply to Baje
Yup, you know what that tells me? It is time that our team gets its act together.

Thank you for your permission to do so .

You have proven that there are different interpretations to a statement.
I may very well have been attempting to communicate the following: Only fools introduce hypotheticals when discussing sports.
In reply to Courtesy
Seems like there are several fools in here then. Good thing a lot of us don't take you seriously.
even with saviour Sammy as coach?
In reply to Windiesfan78
I apologize profusely for making this such an esoteric philosophical debate.

Btw, if Phil Simmons was the coach we would have lost this match.

Careful now Courts, you may offend music man .
