WI will struggle to qualify
In reply to Jumpstart
You must be Columbus
I think we'll be fine
In reply to Raggs
Me too
but it is not a walk in the park. If we slip we will slide. The level of cricket is not much below us.
I think its a cake walk personally
But will ultimately just QUALIFY.......

probably. we missed a golden opportunity to reinvigorate our odi cricket in 2019 with bad tactics. that team had some very good players.
WI has a superior bowling attack with FIVE bowlers capable of containing and taking wickets among these minnow teams. Holder Joseph Paul Hosein and Mayers.
WI ranked 7 in T20...ranked 8 in Test and ranked 11 in ODIs but just drew a series with No 6 ranked South Africa.
West Indies are in the ascendancy in ODIs...I doubt any of these teams can score 300 off WI bowling attack unless WI relax after score a 350+ score.
These teams best chances against WI are to get WI bowled out cheaply 250 and under and bat to overhaul that score
Against these minnows teams even Holder and Chase SUDDENLY finding form with the bat....to me they not finding form...they just not facing world class bowling rather FC level bowling.
I looking for Brandon King to explode on one of these teams....Mayers has gone in a mental shell.
WI team management has realized their bowling attack weakness was the middle overs so they have switched their best bowlers Joseph and Hosein to Marshall the middle overs.
Paul and Holder up front have contained and taken wickets.
The opposition teams have to go after Paul Holder and Mayers at their own risk.

look, I don't doubt you, for us to go through we must beat ZIM and they seem to be batting real well at the moment, but! WI have to get their bowling right in that game and if we bat first one or two batters must be prepared to make big scores
In reply to bird
if we bowl to strength, zim not supposed to make 250 on us
I repeat: These teams struggle to reach 300 against WI yet against each other they achieve that score.
WI played Netherlands last year and beat them 3-0...Netherlands made no 300 score in that series but yesterday they did it against Zim..
Last time what stood between us and qualification? To my best recollection
No bowling performances of note.
But Rather coupla tons vs.coupla the weaker minnows. Gayle, Samuels and Powell scoredbtons. Two of those not there and Powell not inspiring confidence. Holder, Charles and Hope better step up (the experienced ones) and secure this with some big, big tons
In reply to Jumpstart
agreed. Zim has been fortunate to chase both times when the pitch appears to favour the team batting last. Lets see how they do batting first in one of these matches to see how much of a threat they are.

Last time we went to the qualifiers NO team made 300 against WI...WI SUFFERED two defeats ..all at the hands of the Afghanistan spinners...197/8 AND 204 ALL OUT
STATS QUALIFIERS 2017/2018
THE BATTING GAYLE AND HETMYER FAILED TO DELIVER...TWO CRUCIAL BATSMEN
THE BOWLING...FOUR BOWLERS DID WELL ROACH PAUL HOLDER AND KESWICK WILLIAMS....THE ABSENCE OF A SUCCESSFUL SPINNER WAS OUR WEAKNESS
Last Qualifiers 2017/18
Our bowling this time around is stronger with Joseph Paul Holder Hosein and Mayers chipping in. Cariah would have made our bowling dangerous.
Brandon King, Pooran and Chase I would hope to help out Hope and Charles who looks more disciplined....Mayers to me look shaky...Powell is more experienced now.
In reply to Jumpstart
Let me guess whose fault that was.
On second thought, I won't bother.

Thanks Bro,
I forgot Hetty's ton!
Bowling better stay disciplined. Based on USA match I'd say any team can getvaway from us and post 300
In reply to Drapsey
yes...don't bother. they virtually told the entire tournament the WI was going to bounce everyone into oblivion, and tbh, it worked for a game and a half. Pakistan wilted and Australia were 80-5 until holder decided that RTN's medium slow bowling was the best option to mop up the tail. I don't know what goes through that dude's head sometimes. Batting first in overcast conditions on the slope known as Lords in 2017 (versus broad, anderson and stokes in a series decider) and then taking off your express pacers in oshane, cotrell and Dre rus(who had terrified Australia up until that point) to put on RTN at 130 kph. There's actually a comment in the live commentary section that sums up my reaction when Holder did that

just after over 13.4 in the Aus innings
In reply to Brerzerk
I wont say that. WI made 290 odd vs USA and in reply by 20 overs they were 90/5.
it was all over then...no way they making 200 in 30 overs with their last five wickets against WI bowling.
WI TOOK THEIR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND RELAXED,...IT WAS A COMFORTABLE VICTORY.

In reply to analyst-kid
So did Ireland took their foot off the gas today with Scotland at 70/5 after 18.2 overs??? Was the match over at that point???
In reply to StumpCam
You really comparing two intense rivals like Ireland and Scotland? None of them would ease each other!
Besides Scotland is a boss chaser team.
Back to WI/USA, research would tell the WI they had broken the back of the batting AT 90/5 IN 20.....were there any Powells/Russells/Shepherds to come? They knew there were none coming.
Indeed, it may take a consistent and significant effort for us to get through. But we keep hope alive.
