ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) Men’s Selection Panel today named the squad for the preparation camp ahead of the start of the two-match Cycle Pure Agarbathi Test Series against India in the Caribbean.
Jayden Seales will return to West Indies training following his rehabilitation. The fast bowler last played for West Indies in the first Test at the Perth Stadium, last December. He had knee surgery in December and has subsequently been working on a rehabilitation programme overseen by the CWI Medical Team.
The training squad includes several players who are uncapped at the Test level – including batsmen Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, and Kirk McKenzie; as well as fast bowlers Akeem Jordan, and Jair McAllister.
The camp will be held at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG) in Antigua with training starting on Friday June 29. The squad for the opening Test will be named at a later date and will travel to Dominica on Sunday 9 July.

I feel for these guys on the musical of CWI. Grab a chair when the music stops. Are we serious? The game is changing and we are still in the 80s.

Darren Bravo ...non selection....he did very well in PCL...still one of the best batting average...like hety in Qualifiers....
Fast bowling unit looks good... with Joseph, Gabriel, McAllister enough pace...
Batting weak
Cornwall makes a comeback...India is not selecting Sarfaraz for he is unfit... average batting 81..... Sinclair should have been selected..

Why is Sinclair not in for Reefa? Considering that Athanaze, Kirk and Bonner are already in the squad.

Is Desmond Haynes, the most insular Chairman of Selectors ever? Well worth a discussion.

I know its not the final team but by the look of things we could tell Desmond Haynes is going to give us a team to go down by an inning defeat to start the series. In my opinion Riefer, Minley, Anderson Phillips and Warrican and to a lesser extent Kemal Roach shouldnt be there. Roach has not been doing well for us. I really expected to see Daren Bravo and Permaul in training

Sending Sinclair to Zim was a well calculated move. Everyone know that his trip was a lost cause as he cannot turn water into wine ....

Desmond Haynes, as chief selector has single handedly destroyed West Indies cricket with very poor team selection as he is on the verge of being the first West Indian chief selector to pick teams that cant qualify for two consecutive World Cup and a team that will go down by two inning defeats in the two test series. If Haynes wants to save his reputation at least he should pick himself ahead of Raymond Riefer to bat at number 3. If Riefer is picked ahead of Arthanaze even if he scores a hundred during practice and Arthanaze scores duck, Dominicans should boycott the game

Roach remains one of WI BEST BOWLERS in WI conditions 180 WICKETS @ 21.82 AND AVE 27.81 VS India...THE BEST BOWLER IN WI conditions is actually Kyle Mayers avg 15.00 in home conditions.
Mindley Phillips and Gabriel were all top performers in the last concluded FC regionals
howcum u criticise Roach's inclusion and not Gabriel?
COMPARE
GABRIEL AGE 35 overall home avg 86 wkts @ 26.16
2018 avg 37 wkts @ 19.54
2019 avg 13 wkts @ 39.00
2020 avg 17 wkts @ 31.58
2021 avg 11 wkts @ 46.81
2022
2023 avg 3 wkts @ 38.00
ROACH AGE 35 overall home avg 180 wkts @ 21.92
2018 avg 19 wkts @ 22.31
2019 avg 27 wkts @ 18.07
2020 avg 11 wkts @ 37.90
2021 avg 27 wkts @ 23.88
2022 avg 22 wkts @ 27.04
2023 avg 8 wkts @ 34.75
Gabriel has done nothing at test level recently but Selector Haynes has rewarded him for a good FC season

Permaul must be wondering if he kill priest or something
Bowler A Fc avg 20.89 test 38.16
Bowler B fc Avg 21.28 test avg 35,21
why would Permaul wonder if he kill a priest?

My view from the training squad selected is, India requested a match against a Barbados team, Jair is the talk of the town and Warrican has International experience, someone seem to be doing some homework.
I leave at that.

West Indies was not doing excellent but we never got disqualified from World Cup cricket under Lloyd, Butt, Harper and even Brown. So far under Sir Desmond Haynes we failed to get qualified for the T20 World Cup last year and now humiliated, crushed, defeated and disqualified for the ODI World Cup! Haynes should have resigned after missing out on the first T20 WC or the plastic board of selectors should have fired him!

Did West Indies ever missed qualifying for cricket World Cup under Butt, Lloyd, Harper or even Brown? So far under Sir Desmond Haynes we have failed to qualify for two consecutive world cups and he should therefore either fire himself or be fired!

No doubt Roach is one of our best bowlers. But fact is, he took those wickets when he was at his peak. At age 35 and bowling at 80 mph he is not a shade of the bowler he use to be. Furthermore, we need to understand that the first test will be played at Windsor Park, Dominica where he has the worse record among our fast bowlers , with his 4 wickets in two matches at an average of 38.50. I didnt call for the axing of Gabriel because quite frankly I know he is not going to be on the final 13.
Concerning Mindley and Anderson being top performers in our regional fc makes no sense because We all know that Darren Bravo was either 2nd or 3rd highest runs getter in the same fc competition and Desmond Haynes keeps ignoring his performance and give up his fellow Bajan Riefer, who scored nothing but telephone numbers in the same fc competition.
