he's good at problem solving. As i said, he's hideous to watch, but he's good at finding a way to make runs. In a sport as difficult as cricket, you have to praise that ability
a good example of a man who has worked relentlessly on his game to come out on top. I was seeing during the first inning that his test average is 60. That if fabulous after 99 matches
In reply to bird WHAT??? Started off as a spin bowler?? I don't believe that shoite!!! Be serious ole boy...no pitteepattah games sah.

oh, my bad, memory not serving me well, why I am thing offie, but that average is staggering after 90 test
In reply to bird
although i rather suspect he'd have been far less successful in another time. In his career he has had serious problems against line and length bowlers like vernon philander and KG rabada, who bowls at a more extreme pace. The 90s were straddled with bowlers like that: mcgrath, pollock, ambrose etc.

I remember pointing talking about how talented he is and that they needed to give him a chance to develop, and this was when he was bowling medicore legspin in AUD domestic, made me realize the top minds of the game see something us simple folks can't fathom

the thing is, I don't think anyone in their right mind could have look at Smith early in his carrier and conclude there was something special there, but the selectors must be given credit, for sticking with him, I think if he was from WI he would have never played a test match
