Incumbent West Indies Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite said his side was eager to return to action after a four-month layoff.

Brathwaite and company will start the new ICC World Test Championship cycle with two Tests against India, beginning on July 12 in Dominica and July 20 in Trinidad.

He and many of the other Test team hopefuls are currently attending a training camp at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua to prepare for the series, which also features the 100th Test between the two sides.

“It’s important to start well,” Brathwaite said in an interview with CWI Media. “We are playing against India, so you know the guys are really looking forward to it.

He should just ease up on the chat and try to improve his 34 average. For the supposedly most permanent fixture in the team over the past 12 years his production sucks!!

It's the only hope the Wondies have of drawing, or I dare say, winning at least one of the matches.

India has depth a 4th team will give us headaches, from where we are success would be taking the games into a 5th day.

Please don't start ranting before start of series....work hard.... prepare strategy...fine tune batting of the team as well as your... utilise Lara expertise and experience...We have fire power in bowling...

bowling lacks variety, let me take that back there is little variety in speed.

I wish them well, for we really cannot take another beat down in 2023, we are overwhelmed and exhausted from successive failures and losses, for a once proud cricket nation.

Let’s be honest. I agree we have fire power but studying our venues and know who to play where is very critical. Windsor park is not St Lucia where the wicket is lively and therefore we should not think of playing four fast bowlers. Joseph and Mc Allister should be ok and Holder as an all rounder. We at least need one good spinner In Cornwall and two other batsmen that can spin. So Chase and Hodge should be a must. I keep saying Chase because in his last test there he had scores of 60 & 101 not out and with the ball he had a 4 wicket inning. Hodge is a Dominican who knows the conditions so he should play there too Roach is ok but he has a bad average in Dominica so he should be left out. So with my six bowlers and wicket keeper Da Silva my remaining four players would be Brathwaite, McKenzie, Chanderpaul and Athanaze. Boner, Myers and Black wood should be rested while Haynes official night watchman Riefer, should only be considered if Holder and Myers are both injured.

Both Roach and Gabriel should not play.... combination should be Roach & McAllister or Gabriel & Jordan....team will have experience and work load management....


In the batting department...my opinion, Darren Bravo should be in the team and bat at no. 5...
