How many bowlers in the Caribbean clock 140+?
In reply to Windiesfan78
Occasionally or consistently?
Consistently probably these guys...
1. Gabriel
2. Oshane Thomas (Dude lost a lot of weight... Training in the gym almost every day.)
3. Alzarri
Occasionally
1. Paul
2. Smith
3. Drakes
4. Seales
McCallister, Layne, Pitman and a few other upcoming pacers look like they got some gas... But I don't know how fast they bowling... regional cricket don't have speedgun
In reply to anthonyp
some say at some point in the imagined past, RTN used to be a 90mph pacer, before an injury
In reply to Jumpstart
Actually two injuries.
so did Roach.
As a blast from the past, Collymore did too before a serious back injury.
In reply to anthonyp
Thanks for this! I would say consistently. I know Joseph does this. If OT could bowl a tight line, he would be menacing. Gabriel is injury prone. The pool doesn't look too large at all.
In reply to TanteMerle
Collymore was a decent bowler. He was let down quite often by our slip fielders.

I must admit I have never seen Jayden Seales bowl at 140.
So effectively, we have two bowlers that consistently bowl over 140 clicks.
All ah dem clock 140k+....inna dem cyar...
Seales is a strange one
At U19 WC in SA he was regularly clocking high 130s low 140s
since playing senior cricket, he seems to have lost about a yard of pace and is mostly 130 to 135Ks
I have no idea why this is, but its strange that he was apparently quicker at 18/19 than he is now.
Ill have to be convinced about a Oshane Thomas because last few times I saw him bowl. He was overweight bowling at Very best high 130s. Three or four years ago when he was leaner and fitter he occasionally touched 150.
I have never seen Keemo Paul bowl at 140 to me is a 130 to 135 man.
McAllister seems to have some pace, and Ill be surprised if he wasnt at least 140.
Watching Mark Wood bowl mid 150s yesterday brought back great memories of the West Indian pace attack in the 1970s and 80s.
Looking around the region Im afraid I cant see anybody is going to get anywhere near that kind of pace any time soon
In reply to robbo
bowling with slowpokes like holder will do that to you. i would mention kemar but kemar got in an accident and was extremely quick prior to.
In reply to Jumpstart
Yeah Roach could top 150
In reply to Windiesfan78
Gabriel
McAllister bowled fast during Bangladesh tour
Joseph
Oshane
Odean Smith
Rest 125-135....
Odean Smith can clock 140 and above....but lacks fitness
Oshane Thomas was playing club cricket in U.K. ...has been included in regional team...just 27...can bowl 150.....stamina lacking....

Oshane? 150!!??
In reply to newdread
That's just low . From what I am seeing, we are down to just Joseph.

Ramon Simmonds has quite a bit of potential. Young enough to improve with the right bowling coach. I'm not sure how fast he is.
In reply to Windiesfan78
Simmonds is about 132-135
from memory fastest Ive seen him high 130s
In reply to robbo
He can get faster. A lot of it has to do with the action of the bowler and the point of delivery. Also, we need to get back to having tall, accurate fast bowlers.
In reply to Onionman0
Will have to take your word for it bro!
Is a long vid and in the first minute he ent reach a lil 144 yet
Jermaine Lawson...what a bowler he was..when he was allowed to bowl..
In reply to Onionman0
Odean is too bulky to bowl consistently for 10 overs. He can't bowl a consistent line and is a runs truck like OT.
The ball that knockdown Lara with a baby bouncer by Shoaib Akhtar. 148.7KM
Shoaib Akhtar Baby bouncer
Kemar Roach 152.7 Km/hr
His fastest ball came in the ICC World Cup 2015 when he sent down a 152.7 kph dart and registered his name in annals of fastest bowlers in the world.
I am expecting OT to show up all pretenders!
In reply to XDFIX
If OT can work on his line, he will cause batters a lot of problems. He played a t10 tournament where he was quite accurate. I would like him to find that consistency.
In reply to Windiesfan78
A one-month at Andy Roberts Academy would do him good!
McKenny Clark can be counted in the lot. I will say though that there was s drop in pace maybe due to lack of fitness and/or form. I think he is on his way back to where he should be
150 is the new 140 these days.
Most teams have multiple bowlers in the 140s. Its the 150+ that makes a difference

The only two bowlers who consistently hit 150-155 in test cricket at present are Wood & the South African Nortje. On their day they are devastating and match winners.
You do not have to be super fast to be successful even at test cricket but my god it helps. (Providing of course you have control etc)
Has anyone noticed that currently Kyle Mayers has a bowling average of 18.29 in test cricket. His average skyrockets to 41.64 in ODIs. This is because he bowls well to his field in the longer format. Accuracy at medium pace can still be effective.
Isnt Cornwall a fast bowler? Oh fat bowler
In reply to robbo
Better believe it helps.Wood rattled the OZ batters in this just concluded Leeds Test.
They couldn't hide their dislike of some mid 90s scorchers.
In reply to Windiesfan78
Mayers type players used to be regular in England team prior to Duncan Fletcher becoming Head Coach....Mark Eelam, Ben Adams, Rony Irani etc. ..... All these bowlers were very effective in given conditions but failed in most... England was rotting at the bottom of test...then entire policy was changed...Harmison & Co were cultivated by Fletcher..this policy was further strengthened by Andy Flower...once test team resurrected to World no. 1.... White ball team , subsequently, under captaincy of Collingwood became competitive...
We have good resources of fast bowlers..we should try to get them ready for international competition... Mayers should always play as batsman, who can bowl...if, he fails as batsman...bye bye..

Couldn't agree with you more. This is why I opened this thread. We need to get back to getting bowlers that intimidate the opposition, not entertain them.
