Hey...

Jack is/was one of our Profits.

How long shall they kill our Profits while we stand aside and look?

It all began, as many odd football stories have, with Jack Warner, the now disgraced former FIFA vice-president whose time in football administration ended in 2011 amid a flamboyant array of corruption allegations.

But for the purposes of this story, the main problem Warner, at the time president of both CONCACAF (the central, north American and Caribbean governing body) and the Caribbean Football Union, caused was a curious addition to the rules for the 1994 Caribbean Cup qualifiers.

doh forget de 60,000 tickets sold for a 28,000 capacity stadium on the most important day in the country's footballing history. I wasn't born then but I'm convinced losing that game set back TT football decades

Jack Warner did a lot of damage to T&T football. No doubt

It’s also a fact that T&T would not have made the 2006 World Cup without Jack Warner

He was/is corrupt. He also knew football and what was required to succeed

As is often the case with controversial figures, there is complexity where they are concerned

true.....many people think and have gone on record as inferring that trinidad would have qualified a lot earlier for the tournament if it wasn't him as well

Thank God we get rid of Jack…
…and have now returned to the state pre-Jack which was World Beaters

Is Gold Cup after Gold Cup and World Cup after World Cup…

we were fortunate to have a generation of very good and even great players. it happens. We are west indies supporters so we've all seen multiple generations of talented players arise despite rudimentary grooming programs for young players. From 1990-2007 we had yorke, latapy, shaka, kenwyn jones, dennis lawrence, david nakhid, dwarika, Cornell Glen, Marvin Andrews etc. Now imagine if Trinidad had gone to Italia 90 with a very young dwight yorke, who would have been only 19 when that world cup would have taken place and russell latapy, who would have been 21, then the attention those two world class players would have gotten could have gotten more attention on TT football. That is instead of an old squad that made it to Germany 2006 which relied almost exclusively on players over 30. As we know, latapy didn't need the world cup to be signed for FC Porto and Dwight didn't need it to be Man Utd's most expensive signing up until that point. But it is possible they might have played for these sides earlier and then international scouts would have seen the quality of our players. Instead of our young players cutting their teeth in the MLS, they might have been going to smaller, but quality clubs in Europe like Anderlecht and FC Malmo

I think York was signed by some English team the year Ja qualified and later transferred to United?

nah....yorke signed with Aston Villa in 1990, stayed there for 8 years and then signed with Man U in 1998.

The sad lesson in the situation is Jack losing all that stolen money.

Jack Warner was a cancer to Caribbean football, his single mission in life other than corruption was to get Trinidad to the WC which he did in 2006, and also as Sealy said the CFU weren’t interested in listening then and still not now. Very true.

There is no Jack or Burrell without di corrupt American who croaked.
