I consider you both knowledgeable and unbiased, in your years of following WI, has there ever been a selector as insular as Desmond Haynes, remember Carew getting a lot of cussing?

Butcher & Andre Colley....I recall an instance, where captain saw a player picking 5 wickets & scoring runs in club cricket...was picked for World Cup...

Skipper not part of the selection panel?

I dare say, the answer here will be more interesting than the question.
So, what are the responsibilities of the other selectors? Appears that, based on what is being alluded to here, they are overwhelmed by the COS and cappo.

a batsman, no need for Reifer and Holder in the same test side!
Now checking.... looks like half the team Bajes
Does Coley live in Barbados or Antigua?

Now seeing your thread,
I cussed Harper not knowing we were going to get someone worse by far,
Harper was not insular but just incompetent.
Desmond Haynes is incompetent as well as the most brazenly and barefacedly insular .....than even Brung....
West Indies cricket is lost...done...the end.
It is so good hear fan can voice their opinions on Dessie, with Shiv being called selfish fans disliked him.
Narper and other said, Shiv has EARNED the right to bat wherever he like, it was not about team.
And please don't write about a Deer in Headlights, when he was captain.

how is your comment a comparison????

I was always skeptical of Haynes and his objectivity, after reading a quote attributed to him regarding Ryan Hinds. He was advocating for Hinds to be included in the touring party to England when still very young, because the game looked very easy to him when he was at the crease. Imagine my shock when he was taken to India and played the first two Test ahead of Samuel's and could not middle a delivery.

How did Shiv come into this?
Did Shiv ever demonstrate any insularity when he played for the WI team?
Shiv was treated like a yoyo in the batting order and was pushed up and dong the order when team management saw it fit.
And what does 'deer in a highlight as captain' has anything to do with current obscene insular team selection.
Remember Shiv recognized he was not cut out to be cappo and he RESIGNED...the honourable thing....and continued to produce runs for the WI team....being an ICC top 5 ranked test batsman for a decade.
Haynes should do the honourable thing and resign. The WI is sinking to unimaginable depths under his watch.....but he is holding on to his position for dear life and continues to do his incompetent and insular thing.

This has been so for over 5 years
it seems to me that some people are saying that the WI team is not bad becos our cricket is but becos there are simply too many bajans in the team. if removed or whittled down WI would get better.
so in effect we are fighting over team selection not whether WI as a whole have competent players.
somehow that makes sense
